Revenue Integrity Director

Job Description:

The Director is responsible for oversight of the Revenue Integrity function at Intermountain Health. This leader will develop a high-performance team in a centralized business office and lead the management team in planning, program development, human resource management, budget planning, customer satisfaction, patient safety, communication and compliance with regulatory agencies.

As the Revenue Cycle Organization Director, you will:

Translate organization strategy into goals, action plans and metrics.

Lead and mentor a team of revenue cycle professionals, providing guidance, support, and professional development opportunities.

Develop best practices to drive greater performance and productivity for the assigned team, Identify and implement process improvements to enhance revenue cycle efficiency, reduce errors, and optimize cash flow.

Actively manage vendor relationships by monitoring costs and utilization of any vendor relationships assigned to the department.

Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to track the effectiveness of revenue cycle operations and identify areas for improvement.

Oversee service needs and volumes, direct management team in managing staff levels and productivity, and communicate with management team and department caregivers through huddles, staff meetings and other forms of communication to relay updates regarding department updates, organizational activities, financial performance, educational opportunities, interdepartmental activities and QI activities.

Collaborate with HR concerning employee issues and performance, and in partnership with HR, conduct employee coaching, counselling, and disciplinary action when appropriate.

Ensures caregiver adherence to departmental policies and procedures and prepare the operational budgets, along with monitoring and reporting the performance of the department against budget.

Develop annual operating plans, business plans for new services and changes in the organizational structure in the department.

Identify and drive quality and performance improvement initiatives, and leads the team to establish mechanisms to design, measure, maintain, and improve the performance and quality of department services.

Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory guidelines and established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, safety, environmental and infection control standards.

Qualified candidates will have healthcare knowledge – preferably in a matrixed healthcare system, along with technical expertise in the following areas: 

Significant experience in revenue integrity processes and practices (including CDM, charge capture, coding, billing and denials), and compliance.

Strong experience with EPIC Systems, preferably HB Resolute Hospital Billing certification or extensive hands-on experience.

Highly prefer a coding certification  (CCS, CPC, COC) or advanced certification in Health Information (RHIT or RHIA) and / or a Certified Revenue Cycle Representative (HFMA), Certification in Healthcare Revenue Integrity (CHRI).

Management experience overseeing teams or departments involved in revenue cycle functions is needed.

Ability to analyze data, identify discrepancies, and optimize processes for revenue integrity accuracy and efficiency.

Experience problem-solving / navigating complex issues in billing, coding, and payer negotiations, and process improvement.

Minimum Qualifications:

Prior progressive management experience within a healthcare revenue cycle function is required.

Ability to self-direct outcomes and work with limited direct supervision.

Experience with patient accounting systems as well as back-end and front-end revenue cycle functions and processes is required.

Revenue Integrity experience, familiar with EPIC, and understanding all facets of Revenue Integrity is required

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in accounting, healthcare administration, finance or related field from an accredited institution. Education will be verified.

Eight years of progressive management or consulting experience is a healthcare environment.

Five years of direct management experience of people and projects.

Three years managing the assigned department function in a large health system operating on the Epic platform.

HFMA CRCR and/or CHFP Certifications

The hourly range for this position is listed below. Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience. 

$57.75 - $89.14
