RF - CSTEP Coordinator
Location: Farmingdale, NY Category: The Research Foundation Posted On: Tue Mar 25 2025 Job Description: The SUNY Research Foundation at Farmingdale State College (FSC) seeks a full-time Coordinator for the Collegiate Science and Technology Entry Program (CSTEP) to work with historically underrepresented students in STEM majors. The CSTEP Coordinator will work with the Director to ensure that all program contract requirements are satisfied, student enrollment is maintained, and student service provision is effective and in accordance with the grant. The Coordinator will provide personal development, academic, pre-professional and financial aid counseling to an assigned caseload of students. The Coordinator will also assist students in their preparation for internships, research opportunities, and post-graduation plans. They will take the lead in coordinating program components related to the CSTEP mentor and tutoring programs, and serve as the primary liaison for the CSTEP Advisory Board. The CSTEP Coordinator will assist with planning and implementation of group services including workshops, special events, and implementation of the pre-freshman summer orientation program. Other responsibilities may be assigned by the program Director or department Executive Director, as appropriate. More specifically, the Coordinator will: + Assist with recruitment of student applicants and determine eligibility for CSTEP program, as needed. + Meet individually and in small groups with students to provide personal, academic, career guidance, and assist with implementation of intervention plans for struggling students. + Oversee tutoring program and academic support initiatives. + Recruit, train, and supervise peer and professional tutors. + Work collaboratively with campus departments such as Financial Aid, Registrar and academic offices to provide wraparound student services. + Plan and chaperone occasional field trips to STEM industry locations, graduate school visits, annual CSTEP conference, etc. + Assist the Director in securing student research opportunities on and off-campus; supervise research placements. + Develop and implement student development workshops to further student academic, career, and personal growth. This position may require occasional evenings and overnight travel for program events as needed. Job Requirements: MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: + Master's degree in Higher Education Administration, Counseling or a related field. + Relevant experience working with historically disadvantaged students within a college opportunity program or another program with a similar mission. + Minimum 3 years of experience with program coordination and implementation focused on supporting student development and success. + Strong organizational and time management skills along with excellent oral and written communication abilities. + Proficiency with social media platforms and Microsoft Office programs including Excel and PowerPoint.
