Job Description
We are seeking an RF Engineer for design, implementation, integration, and testing of digital and RF systems with a focus on communication devices. You will work as part of a small group to develop a new communication device and assist with design reviews and trade studies. The focus of these products is to enhance communication with our soldiers from the edge of the communication field to the command center and back to the edge for proper decision-making.
ResponsibilitiesDesign, implement, and review PCB for an RF communications system, including RF and power distribution.Conduct testing and validation of hardware to ensure performance.Analyze schematic diagrams for either custom or commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) electronic hardware.Develop and maintain requirements documents, functional specification documents, interface control documents, engineering wiring diagrams, etc.Develop project test plans and test procedures, provide test planning support, and assist in the execution of both lab testing and field testing.Support customer integration and troubleshooting efforts.Essential SkillsRF designPCB designLink budget analysisExperience with lab tools, DSP, signal processing, electrical engineering, and digital signal processingBachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field5+ years of experience with RF design for receiver and transmitter circuit cardsExperience using standard lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, signal generators, spectrum analyzers, power supplies, etc.Experience with implementation of RF cascade analysis to trade gain, noise figure, and linearity as part of system designKnowledge of RF theory and ability to apply theoretical knowledge to resolve real-world problemsKnowledge of analog data converters, ADCs/DACs, and how they interface with the RF front endEligibility for SECRET ClearanceAdditional Skills & QualificationsExperience with open-source modern technologiesExperience with high-frequency technologiesAbility to work on early-stage architecture projectsWork Environment
This role is a hybrid position with 2 days a week onsite in Warrenton, VA, with potential for more on-site time due to hardware requirements in the lab. The team works in two different offices within the Vint Hill technology park, which features amenities like a brewery, winery, and CrossFit. The work environment is open office space, allowing for the use of laptops and cell phones, contributing to a fun culture. This position is part of a 2-3 person Electrical Engineering team.
