JT4 LLC is seeking a Radio Frequency (RF) Field Engineer whom will be responsible for successful configuration and operation of mission telemetry receivers and recorders during telemetry test and evaluation activities and flight test events. The RF Field Engineer is to provide engineering expertise and operational support in the areas of voice and data communications, telemetry receiving, recording, processing, and distribution in support of Flight Tests.
JT4, LLC provides engineering and technical support to multiple western test ranges for the U.S. Air Force, Space Force, and Navy under the Joint Range Technical Services Contract, better known as J-Tech II. JT4 develops and maintains realistic, integrated test and training environments and prepares our nation's war-fighting aircraft, weapons systems, and aircrews for today's missions and tomorrow's global challenges.
**Duty location will be fully onsite at Point Mugu Naval Air Station. Travel Required: 20-50% of the time to various CONUS and OCONUS locations (i.e. NASA Armstrong Flight Research Center, Grand Forks AFB, Marine Corp Base Hawaii, Wallops Flight Facility).**
Job Summary – Essential Job Functions/Duties

Employee will be responsible to perform the following functions/duties:
Apply knowledge of design specifications for more complex systems/projects Coordinate and work closely with other engineering, logistics, financial, and program management disciplines to define system specifications and requirements Verify and comply with engineering documentation standards and test procedures Prepare, deliver, and submit technical papers and perform engineering studies Support development of technical proposals and provide comments on technical content and level of effort of the proposed scope of work Develop, maintain, and produce technical documentation and system/subsystem specifications Direct interface and liaison with customers at all levels from quotation to final design and test activities, design reviews, and technical working group meetings to comply with requirements and specifications Conduct site visits, experimental investigations and analyze engineering problems, propose solutions and alternatives, and provide recommendations Perform other job-related duties, as required Train to operate an airborne Telemetry Receiver Recorder System. Configure and operate the Telemetry Receiver Recorder System for pre-flight testing and live flight test events. Operate various RF test equipment to validate the Telemetry Receiver Recorder System is working properly. Analyze telemetry RF signals. Produce CH10 data products for customers. Willing to work a flexible schedule to include holidays, weekends, and extended shifts. Ability to carry, lift, or move equipment up to 40 pounds and sit/stand for long periods. Excellent communication skills, is able to take direction, work independently or as part of a team, applies attention to detail. Use and follow documented processes, checklists, and instructions.
Range Requirements
The successful candidate will possess an understanding of Telemetry systems with the ability to comprehend signal flow within a given system. Job responsibilities encompass Telemetry operations, data transport systems, and network systems with adherence to technical standards. This includes promptly addressing real-time mission anomalies and effectively troubleshooting emergent issues. Moreover, the candidate must demonstrate familiarity with local area networks (LAN) and wide area networks (WAN), coupled with a knowledge of the transport and networking equipment integral to data transport. Knowledge of structured cabling in support of data transmission equipment, such as fiber optics, twisted pair, and low loss RF cables with a knowledge of termination techniques is desired. It is necessary that they understand how to use equipment such as RF spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, telemetry receivers, video distribution amplifiers, etc. A candidate with a comprehensive and in-depth understanding of Silent Sentinel antenna systems, RFoF, TMoIP, and expertise in installing and testing telemetry systems, GPS timing, and video solutions would be advantageous. The successful candidate will interface effectively with the drafting department to create engineering drawings and be proficient with drafting software such as Visio is a plus. Must be able interpret, redline engineering drawings, be able to utilize schematics to install, alter and repair equipment. The candidate will interface with engineering department to make system proposals, evaluations, install, test, and implement the use of new equipment. Perform quality assurance on telemetry systems as well as validation/verification of electronic systems. Produce operations, maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting procedures for existing or new telemetry systems. The successful candidate must be able to work independently and as an integral part of a team, capable of making decisions under pressure. Routine preventative maintenance of all equipment, by established procedures (Local Work Cards), operating protocols, technical manuals, and other authoritative documentation is a fundamental responsibility. Furthermore, the candidate shall be responsible for generating local trouble tickets and employing Maximo to track work performed per established procedures. Experience with IP networking. Experience with Windows 10/11 and Linux operating systems. Experience with Pearl scripting language. Experience in a flight test environment.
REQUIREMENTS - EDUCATION, TECHNICAL, AND WORK EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree in a science or engineering discipline plus at least four years of applicable experience or 10 years of applicable experience in RF communications and/or Telemetry. Incumbent must have a valid, current state driver's license. Must qualify for and maintain a Security Clearance. U.S. Citizenship is required.
SALARY
The expected salary range for this position is $91,748.00 to $144,907.00 annually.
