Summary of Objective:

This position will play a key role in promoting and maintaining the health and well-being of employees in the workplace. The role is focused on preventing work-related injuries and illnesses, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations. This role will work closely with the Global Occupational Health Department and all EHS staff on best practices to develop policies & procedures that support PCI’s Health & Safety programs. The Occupational Health Nurse will partner with site departments to assist and promote training, education, and continuous improvement efforts.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Case Management/ Injury and Illness Management

Conduct initial evaluation of injured or ill workers, assessing the severity of condition and determine the immediate course of action. Provide first aid care when necessary and refer out for cases beyond first aid care.Manage workers’ compensation claims and work closely with workers’ compensation vendor to help employees return to work safely, expedite claim resolution, and minimize costs for both the employee and employer.  Monitor workers’ health through routine screenings, hearing tests, PAPR review, and other fit to work assessments.Assist in the management of PCI’s pre-hire drug screening process. Provide information and training during new hire orientation sessions.Responsible for ensuring all employee medical screenings are completed in a timely manner and in compliance with OSHA and/or other regulatory agencies.Provide first aid and emergency care to workers injured or taken ill at the workplace.Maintain confidential records of work-related injuries and illnesses as per OSHA & HIPPA regulations & guidelines.Provide support in leading the Medical Emergency Response Team (MERT) & Mental Health First Aiders (MHFA); ensure members are engaged and receive updated training as needed.Educate employees on health and safety practices, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and ergonomics.Maintain the sites OSHA logs.

Risk Assessment and Management

Partner with HR, management, and EHS to develop and implement health and safety policies & procedures.Assess workplace environments for potential health hazards, such as chemical exposures, noise, and ergonomic risks. Recommend mitigation efforts on health risks and promote a safe work environmentParticipate in workplace safety committees and contribute to health and safety policy development. Oversee PCI’s Bloodborne Pathogens Program.Identify work-related health risks and trends and partner with EHS on safety improvements to reduce future incidents.

General Duties

Stay up to date on the latest Occupational Health information, methodologies and regulations to ensure best practices are followed and compliance is maintained at PCI.This position may require travel to other PCI sites.This position may require extra hours and/or weekend work.Knowledge of and adherence to all PCI, cGMP, and GCP policies, procedures, rules.Attendance to work is an essential function of this positionPerforms other duties as assigned by Manager/Supervisor.

Qualifications:

Required:

Registered Nurse (RN) licenseAt least 2 years of Nursing experienceAbility to travel.Advanced Computer Skills: Ability to perform the most complex computer tasks and operate various computer programs.            Full Professional Proficiency: Ability to speak, read, and write fluently and accurately on all levels pertinent to professional needs.Very High Reasoning: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Be able to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in math or diagram form and deal with several abstract/concrete variables.High Standard of Report WritingAbility to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner.Ability to effectively present information to various people as the job requires.Ability to work independently and/or as part of a team.

Preferred:

Certified Occupational Health Nurse (COHN) qualificationExperience in Occupational HealthExperience with Workers Compensation claims managementPhysical Therapy and/or treatment and prevention of Musculoskeletal Injuries experienceExperience in Manufacturing, especially in the pharmaceuticals and/or bio-pharmaceuticals industry or similar

The base salary hiring range for this position is ($69,920 - $79,000) plus eligibility for an annual performance bonus. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors including but not limited to specific and relevant experience, education, credentials, geography, and subject matter expertise.
