Job Description

Skyworks Solutions is seeking an experienced RFIC designer for its Mobile Solutions business unit in our Andover, MA Design Center.   The candidate will contribute to the concept, design, integration, and delivery of complex multichip RFIC-based wireless module solutions for WiFi, Bluetooth & 5G applications.  The candidate will be involved with all aspects of product realization and work with both local and sister teams in UK/Canada to deliver high-performance RF products to high volume markets.

 

Responsibilities

Design of multi-function silicon based RFICs with power amplifier, LNA, switch and filter content in the 2-9 GHz frequency band for wireless applications. Work with a variety of technologies including SOI, SiGe, & CMOS to implement innovative RF circuitry to support wireless product offerings. Hands on design responsibility including overview of detailed IC layout, lab evaluation, and back-fitting of designs. Presentation of detailed design reviews including all aspects of the design:  IC, Packaging and EM & Thermal analysis. Support customer related issues and responses as needed. Communicate with employees at all levels in the organization and be able to demonstrate excellent problem solving, data analysis, and critical thinking skills.

 

Job Requirements

Bachelor’s degree with minimum 8 years of experience in IC design, or MSc plus 6 years minimum, or PhD plus 3 years minimum. RF Design/simulation expertise with Cadence and/or Keysight ADS RFIC/PA design experience using GaAs HBT, SiGe, and/or SOI/CMOS including bias networks, passive components including couplers and matching networks.  Strong knowledge of RF circuit architectures and design tradeoffs in PA’s, LNA’s, and RF switches. Experience with device bias design techniques and fundamentals of analogue circuit design. Expertise with Keysight ADS, and/or Cadence and associated simulation engines and data displays. Working knowledge of IC layout techniques/considerations in a Cadence Virtuoso environment. Demonstrated expertise with at least one major EM tool for full IC + module level simulation. General packaging knowledge and understanding of laminate, wire bonding, WLCSP techniques, SMT components and multi-die FEM considerations. Strong knowledge of ESD protection techniques Ability to manage the assigned project with minimum supervision. Strong Lab experience to perform IC / Module characterization. History of delivering production products and familiarity with key stages/gates in the product development process Excellent oral and written communication skills and ability to generate clear technical presentations and data summaries. 

The following qualifications are desirable but not required

Understanding of wafer fabrication process and its effect on circuit performance and yields. An understanding of basic analog design theory, basic analog circuits, loop stability analysis.

 

The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is currently USD $112,500 - $215,900 per year per year. Starting base pay will depend on relevant experience and skills, training and education, business needs, market demands, the ultimate job duties and requirements, and work location.
