The Division of Arthritis & Rheumatic Diseases provides care for patients with inflammatory diseases that include rheumatoid arthritis, spondyloarthritis, vasculitis, scleroderma, myositis, and polymyalgia rheumatica. We also see patients with diseases such as osteoarthritis and fibromyalgia. Rheumatologists have special training and expertise in the use of medications that suppress the immune system which is a major approach in the treatment of these immunologically mediated diseases.
Function/Duties of PositionAs a member of the Division of Arthritis and Rheumatic Diseases, in the Department of Medicine you will be expected to contribute in each of the following areas:
1. Administrative and other duties may be assigned based on divisional needs and your areas of expertise and interest, including opportunities to participate in and to serve on institutional committees.
2. Clinical care will be your primary assignment and will include:
Direct patient care in Arthritis and Rheumatic Diseases outpatient clinics (may include a combination of digital and face-to-face clinics at Marquam Hill-Physicians Pavilion, Beaverton Clinic, Orenco Station (Hillsboro, OR) and/or other OHSU outpatient locations) with a minimum of six (6) clinics per week. Adult rheumatology inpatient consult service for 2-3 months per year. Includes OHSU-only consult weeks (Monday-Fridays) and combined OHSU and VA Portland Health Care System (VAPORHCS) weekend coverage. Potential assignment of eConsults and other direct and indirect patient care divisional needs assigned by the Division Head and/or Clinical Director, should the need arise.
3. This position participates in the divisions teaching activities, including divisional conferences, student and fellow didactics and on OHSU committees as expected and approved by the Division and Department, including undergraduate medical education programs and School of Medicine graduate programs.
4. There are resources available for start-up research and on-going support via established processes and opportunities. Faculty interested in doing research may be eligible to apply for departmental research assistance and non-clinical time through the Director of Research, Department Chair, and Division Head.
Required Qualifications Candidate must be board certified in Rheumatology.Current medical staff privileges at OHSU and VA Portland Health Care System (VAPORHCS) at the time of your start date.An unrestricted Oregon Medical Board and Washington State Medical licenses, and a current Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) license linked to Oregon.
