An Intern is a temporarily employed college student in an accredited four-year institution of higher learning, who is offered a work-study program designed to give college students practical work experience in their field of study. This program often helps students determine career interests. Beyond the scope of the actual tasks performed, the student becomes familiar with a corporate environment and gains practical skills and knowledge to supplement their classroom experience. #RIE Responsibilities Primary Responsibilities Gain experience and exposure to practical applications within the utility industry. Individual normally works under close supervision; performs a variety of projects that have specific instructions and expected results. As an intern, you will be assigned to a Supervisor and/or a Coach/Mentor. You will be assigned day-to-day tasks as well as a project that will last the duration of your assignment. The project may be a team effort or individual. At the end of your internship, you will present to a team of company employees the results of your project and overall summary of your experience. This position is a safety-sensitive role. Resource & Investment Planning: The intern will be offered opportunities in a dynamic department to learn about short and long term planning cycles for utility compliance as well and to achieve strategic goals, end-to-end process optimization, in-year and long-term capital investment planning and management and its relationship to customer rates, and using large and small data sets to inform tactical decision making. Intern will work with individuals in many different Gas business departments and use field visits to understand how the data and planning connect to physical, real-world work. Qualifications Basic Qualifications Enrolled in a curriculum leading to a baccalaureate or master’s degree in communications or community outreach from an accredited college or university program. Rising Junior, Senior, or graduate student GPA requirement: 3.00 or higher Eligible to work in the United States in accordance with the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) regulations. Able to provide an official student transcript and other required information. Able to work in a team environment. Able to demonstrate good interpersonal and communication skills. Demonstrated leadership abilities. Travel within the service territory may be required. Possess a valid driver's license from state of residence *RhIsEn*
