Right of Way Analyst Job ID #: 30030 Location: TX-HOUSTON Functional Area: Accounting Position Type: Full Time Experience Required: 1 - 3 Years Relocation Provided: No Education Required: Bachelors Degree RC/Department: 4030 -OSG RECORDS, DRI, ROW FINAN :KMGP Position Description We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Right of Way (ROW) Analyst to join our team. This position will play a critical role in supporting field agents with right-of-way (ROW) field disbursement processes, ensuring financial compliance, and maintaining accurate records in accordance with company policies and regulatory standards. The ROW Analyst will be responsible for bank transactions, journal entries, compliance monitoring, training, and audits, all while ensuring adherence to SOX controls and best financial practices. The ROW Analyst may also be responsible for all aspects of Land & Right of Way payment setup and processing, wire transfers, CPI calculations, interpretation of various ROW contracts, and coordination with financial reporting for forecasting and accruals for the Kinder Morgan Land/Right of Way (ROW) department, which is responsible for all land activities across KM’s 4 business units. Position Requirements Position Requirements: + Process and manage ROW field disbursement checks, ensuring timely and accurate bank deposits. + Reconcile and maintain financial records related to ROW payments, including journal entries (JEs) in accordance with accounting standards. + Ensure compliance with internal controls, Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) regulations, and corporate policies. + Work closely with field agents to ensure proper disbursement procedures are followed. + Conduct training sessions for field agents and staff on check processing, compliance requirements, and financial controls. + Provide excellent customer service by effectively communicating with internal and external stakeholders and addressing inquiries in a professional and timely manner. + Perform periodic audits of ROW financial transactions and documentation to verify accuracy and compliance. + Collaborate with internal and external auditors, providing necessary documentation and explanations as needed. + Develop and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and effectiveness in ROW financial operations. + Review, analyze, understand, and interpret various ROW payable and receivable contracts. + Plan, forecast, and process payments associated with the obligations defined in different ROW contracts. + Maintain obligation records in the company database “ROWDMAP” in compliance with departmental and SOX mandated policies and procedures. + Assist with variance analysis reporting for comparisons to budget and forecasts monthly + Maintain ownership name and address changes as needed for rental/renewal obligation records. + Support annual 1099 preparation, research and corrections. + Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry best practices and regulatory changes related to ROW financial management. + Proactively review payment forecasts for assigned obligations to ensure accuracy and timely payment. Position Requirements: + Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field. Applicable experience in lieu of a degree can be considered. + Strong understanding of financial controls, compliance, and SOX regulations. + Experience with bank reconciliations, journal entries, and financial reporting. + Proficiency in ERP Systems (Infor Lawson preferred) and Microsoft Excel. + Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. + Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. + Effective communication and training skills. + Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. + Strong customer service skills with the ability to address and resolve inquiries efficiently and professionally. Preferred Experience, Skills and Knowledge: + 2+ years of experience in financial operations, accounting, right-of-way management, or a related field. + 2+ years’ experience in contract analysis *Position may be filled at various levels depending on experience and job skills of successful candidate.
