Risk Analyst

Job Description Summary: As a Risk Analyst at Green Plains, you will play a critical role in safeguarding the company's financial and operational stability. Your primary responsibility will be ensuring that risk-taking entities are fully aware of the inherent risks in their activities and decisions, as well as the broader impact these decisions have at the enterprise level. You will be instrumental in identifying opportunities to reduce, mitigate, and monitor risks across the organization, providing essential analytical support to internal stakeholders. The Risk Analyst is a member of the Green Plains Risk Management organization, under the direct leadership of the Chief Transformation Officer. This position will report to the Director of Risk Management, working in tandem with other Risk teammates and members of the Commercial, Finance, and Data Science teams.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Assist in the administration of Green Plains' risk exposures across the enterprise, ensuring that risks are appropriately identified, monitored, and mitigated. Proactively identify, analyze, and communicate potential risk exposures across the enterprise, utilizing tools such as Value-at-Risk (VaR), Stress Tests, Scenario Analysis, and other relevant risk metrics. Model financial, operational, logistics, and commodity data for specific markets, and produce ad hoc analyses based on market developments, positions, strategies, and their potential impacts. Prepare a variety of reports to communicate key operating data, market information, risk metrics, exposures, financial information, and results to senior management. Leverage technical skills to design and develop automated processes for metric reporting and risk analytics, enhancing the efficiency and accuracy of risk management activities. Work independently and collaborate across multiple disciplines, including Technology, Commercial, Legal, and Operations, to drive cross-functional initiatives. Build strong relationships and communicate effectively with risk and business leaders, including the Green Plains Executive Leadership team, contributing to strategic risk infrastructure development.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, Data Science, or related fields. Completion or progress towards CFA professional qualification or an advanced degree. Work experience with agricultural or energy markets preferred. Experience using Python to produce reports preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Capabilities

Proven analytical, quantitative, and modeling skills with strong attention to detail. Strong interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written). Advanced proficiency in MS Excel Ability to query, extract, and manipulate complex data files in SQL preferred.
