This is a fantastic opportunity to step into a senior risk leadership role in a complex and diverse region. You will:
Be a key advisor and influencer, strengthening risk culture and governance across New Zealand and the PacificBuild and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders and regulators, working as a trusted partner to deliver on our risk and compliance strategyLead through influence, mentoring and supporting others, and fostering a strong risk-aware culture across our teamsDrive real impact by embedding best practice risk frameworks and building maturity across compliance programsEnjoy being part of a values-led, people-focused business where your leadership and technical expertise will be valued and recognisedYour new roleFoster a best-practice risk, compliance and governance culture by implementing effective risk management policies and procedures across the business. You will also:
Actively manage and mitigate risks while driving uplift in risk and compliance maturity and practicesStrengthen the region’s risk culture and ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory requirementsProvide subject matter expertise on the identification, assessment, monitoring and management of operational risks, including remediation action plans for ineffective operational controlsBe responsible for the roll-out and maintenance of the risk appetite, frameworks, risk and control library for relevant business units.Lead internal and external assurance reviews, including developing and identifying improvement opportunities and coordinate the implementation of recommendations.Influence and embed risk awareness across the business through insightful analysis, feedback, and transparent reportingLead and mentor team members, ensuring delivery of business unit objectives and professional growthPromote a culture of engagement, continuous improvement and execution excellence, aligned with our valuesMore information and the full job profile can be shared with applicants during the interview process.

About youYou are an experienced in risk management and compliance. You are:Familiar with working in regulated and complex organisations,Skilled in building strong stakeholder relationships across New Zealand and Pacific marketsKnowledgeable in best practice risk management frameworks, including the three lines of defense modelConfident in change and project management, with experience in change deliveryUp to date with regulatory requirements for risk reporting and compliance obligations in New Zealand, and may also have experience with regulatory environments in Fiji, New Caledonia, French Polynesia, and Solomon IslandsA people leader who mentors, influences, and fosters capability within your team and across the wider businessDetail-oriented, proactive, and passionate about embedding a strong risk cultureAbout QBEWe can never really predict what’s around the corner, but at QBE we’re asking the right questions to enable a more resilient future – helping those around us build strength and embrace change to their advantage.
