Contract roles are geared toward independent professionals interested in temporary or project-based work.

Sia Title: Project Specialist (Non-Exempt Contractor)

Project Title: Risk Assessment Consultant - Payments

Level: Mid 

Project Length: This is a temporary position with an expected duration of 8 months

Project Hours: 40 hours/week 

Location: New York, NY or San Francisco, CA Preferred

The expected compensation for this contract is $90 to $100 per hour. The exact pay rate will vary depending on a wide array of factors, which may include but are not limited to skills, experience, and location.

Key Responsibilities: One of our premier clients is seeking a seasoned professional with expertise in payment risk management to join our growing Tech practice. The ideal contractor will have 5 years of management consulting experience in the financial services or tech industry, with a deep understanding of the payments ecosystem and associated risks. This includes identifying and assessing potential risks, developing mitigations strategies, and monitoring the effectiveness of risk management efforts. 

Contribute to the development of payment risk management strategies for clients across various payment types (e.g. online transactions, mobile payments, cross-border payments) Lead the assessment and mitigation of payment risks across the organization, including fraud, operational, and regulatory risks  Perform the risk assessment of new and existing products Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and address potential payment risks and controls  Develop and maintain a comprehensive understanding of the payments industry, including key players, industry associations, regulatory environments, and emerging trends  Support client work and lead the development of high-quality, timely client deliverables  Prepare for and facilitate successful client and internal meetings  Collaborate with internal and external teams to share knowledge and best practices  Perform market research, business analysis, and build executive presentations  Support internal initiatives, thought leadership, and people development

QualificationsBachelor's degree in business or a related field  5+ years of experience in risk management/risk assessments, the financial services or tech industry  Strong knowledge of payment systems, processes, and risks  Trained in project management and experienced in supporting client interview sessions and constructing executive presentations  Proven communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills  Ability to adapt quickly and take initiative in unstructured environments with limited supervision  Willingness to share knowledge and expertise with colleagues and clients  Ability to transform domain knowledge and project experiences into published content for Sia Partners Insights  Experience with payment industry regulations and standards preferred.  Knowledge of emerging payment technologies and innovations (e.g. blockchain, cryptocurrencies) is a plus. Certification in risk management or a related field (e.g. CFA, FRM) a plus. Strong knowledge of risk management frameworks, such as COSO or ISO 31000
