Risk Business Partner

Role Description

The objective of the risk team is to deliver, coordinate and continuously develop an effective framework that provides the tools to enable FNZ to identify, assess, control and monitor risk and through that framework manage risk within the appetite of the business, our clients and regulators.

The Risk Business Partner works in the 2nd line of defence and brings both experience and knowledge of risk management tools and frameworks. Their practical experience and achievements in similar roles will demonstrate their ability to provide oversight of the operational risk environment and their ability to challenge the business across the core elements of the framework. Whilst FNZ is technology business, the role requires wider experience within operational risk, ideally within a fast-paced regulated environment with exposure to MiFID regulations.

The role will support the implementation and maintenance of the Risk Management Framework to support FNZ’s business plan and the regulatory environment it operates in. This includes provision of oversight of the application of risk management policies and procedures and working with the business to facilitate the understanding and embedding of these within FNZ.

The duties and responsibilities of this role will include the following:

Risk Management Framework:

Provide support (and, where necessary, challenge) to key business stakeholders in their implementation of FNZ’s risk management framework.Drive the implementation and embedding of a risk and control self-assessment process.Design and deliver an effective risk assurance programme.Consider the appropriateness of KRI metrics and threshold calibration and challenge the first line’s assessment of risks associated with above threshold indicators.Represent the risk function at the appropriate governance committees of FNZ (Europe) Dac (including the Management Risk & Compliance Committee, New Business Committee, Change Release Board).Represent FNZ (Europe) Dac at Client Joint Risk & Compliance Forums.

Delivery / IT / Information Security / BCM / Operational Resilience/DORA:

Attend monthly ‘First Line Risk Forum’ meetings for Delivery, providing updates on Risk Management Framework Developments, upcoming assurance activities, and challenging the attendees regarding risk profiles/ project risk logs, control environments and emerging risks.Liaise with and leverage Group Information Risk Team and Group BCM Team (both second line teams with Group Risk function) to assess / determine risk profile for FNZ (Europe) Dac.Provide second line support for the implementation and embedding of the Operational Resilience framework within FNZ (Europe) Dac.Provide second line support for the implementation and embedding of the Digital Operational Resilience framework within FNZ (Europe) Dac.Ensure significant risk events are escalated to senior management and provide oversight and direction of remediation and root cause analysis from a 2nd line perspective.Ensure mitigating actions are appropriately defined and recorded where risk positions are considered to be above tolerance. Monitor the appropriate completion of actions via reporting from 1st line.

Business Change:

Provide risk management support to product/service development and proposition developments.Provide risk management support for business critical internal change projects with FNZ Group.Evaluate the risk exposure relating to new business activities / new client business cases, including assessing the appetite to risk and current assessment of the risk associated with these.

Reporting:

Prepare monthly Risk Management report content for submission to the Management Risk & Compliance Committee and the FNZ (Europe) Dac Board.Manage/prepare relevant Client risk / assurance reporting in accordance with our contractual obligations.

Experience Required

5-7 years experience in a risk management role, ideally within a Financial Service platform / IT environment.Relevant qualifications e.g. CISA, IIA, PMI, Agile, PRINCE, etcProven ability to both implement/embed risk frameworks (including RCSAs), and challenge senior stakeholders when required.Knowledge/experience of IT Project Delivery, IT development lifecycles using Agile Project Methodology.Knowledge/experience of Regulatory (CBI/EBA) requirements in respect of IT & Cyber, Cloud, Data Privacy, Operational Resilience, DORA.Working knowledge of operational processes of MiFID firms (i.e. asset servicing, investment operations processes).Excellent understanding of risk management industry best practice.Excellent communication, relationship management and influencing skills.Excellent presentation skills and training / coaching experience.Ability to understand and articulate the commercial benefits of effective risk management.Ability to build and maintain effective internal and external relationships.Ability to analyse, present and report risk management information to senior stakeholders.
