Risk Management Expert (Senior Principal Advisor, Remote United States)

About the role: 

Advisors bring Gartner's research, best practices and tools to life for a wide spectrum of world-leading organizations. A Senior Principal increases client engagement by packaging Gartner research and insights in a way that addresses individual client challenges. They utilize their keen analytical skills to identify patterns and trends among client queries and priorities and then use those insights to influence the provocative and pragmatic research that we produce.

Many of these insights are gained through client engagement via inquiries and presentations. In these engagements, Senior Principal Advisors often contextualize Gartner best practices and provide recommendations and guidance that help solve client challenges. They wield the expertise, authority and confidence to challenge client thinking and introduce new perspectives that will help clients achieve their objectives.

You will also partner with internal stakeholders who are pivotal to the success of our business. Advisors work closely with our research team as part of our communities of practice, bringing client perspectives to help guide the research agenda and client event calendar. Additionally, you will serve as a thought partner to service and revenue partners on client retention and business growth opportunities. 

What you will do:

In this role, you will advise Chief Risk Officers who are guiding their organizations through critical initiatives like:

Transforming risk processes,

Improving risk function planning, decision making and awareness,

Enabling ongoing monitoring of key risks via technology 

You’ll also: 

Engage senior-level executives by building credibility, effectively diagnosing the causes of clients’ business challenges, and recommend the best course of action based on Gartner’s research. 

Deliver Gartner’s insights through 1:1 interactions, interactive webinars, and small group forums

Identify patterns in client needs to help shape the direction of ongoing research and product creation

Work collaboratively with peers in communities of practice to stay up to date with new trends - both external and in Gartner research - that drive excellence in client delivery

Contribute to research, webinars and conferences as opportunities arise

Partner with sales and service partners to increase account growth, retention, and engagement

What you will need:

Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience

6+ years of experience in a corporate risk environment in one or more of the following areas: 

Risk management frameworks and policies

Risk coordination 

Risk awareness and training 

Risk appetite

Risk identification and assessment

Ability to engage senior-level executives by building relationships, establishing credibility, conducting substantive content discussions, diagnosing needs, solving problems, and identifying relevant resources

Ability to analyze and synthesize data; Can effectively apply patterns and frameworks to client challenges

Strong written and verbal interaction skills; ability to engage clients and respond effectively to questions

Presentation and Public Speaking experience

Excellent collaboration and people skills

Ability to demonstrate a high level of executive presence

Strong learning agility and ability to absorb research content

Excellent prioritization skills

Demonstrate ability to work independently and within a team

Gartner believes in fair and equitable pay. A reasonable estimate of the base salary range for this role is 92,000 USD - 131,000 USD. Please note that actual salaries may vary within the range, or be above or below the range, based on factors including, but not limited to, education, training, experience, professional achievement, business need, and location. In addition to base salary, employees will participate in either an annual bonus plan based on company and individual performance, or a role-based, uncapped sales incentive plan.
