Risk Management - Strategy & Operations Co-op
WHAT YOU'LL DO

The Risk Management function’s goal is to proactively detect, manage and mitigate risks at BCG while addressing the evolving business needs and risk landscape of the firm. The Risk Strategy and Operations (S&O) Team is dedicated to working across the broader Risk Management function and stakeholders to create a holistic strategy to carry forth and execute on the function’s vision. Additionally, the S&O team focuses on operational excellence to drive growth, scale, digitization, identify synergies, and foster a collaborative and positive culture within the Risk to maximize our teams’ engagement and value to BCG. The function aligns itself with the internal staff at BCG where each office, internal function, Managing Director and Partner (MDP), and all employees bear the responsibility for managing risk at the firm. 


In this position you will be working closely with the newly formed S&O Team. You will learn about risks, and the operations behind those risks, that BCG as a global organization faces. You will get exposure to a wide range of risk business functions and learn how to best organize and utilize various functions and resources to achieve the team objectives. You will get hands-on experience relating to major initiatives as well as smaller ongoing analyses and projects we conduct to manage risk at BCG while working with a team of international colleagues and internal customers.  Additionally, you will learn about cross-functional project collaboration and teaming in a complex global corporation.

On a day-to-day basis, your responsibilities will include:

Helping team establish robust processes associated with S&O ongoing activities (recruiting, onboarding, offboarding, etc.)

Supporting initiatives with our various business partners (HR, Finance, Learning and development)

Contributing to the development of our Risk function strategic plans and objectives

Developing plans for our people agenda

Designing agendas and supporting documentation for various team meetings

Coordination and organization of team events

Ad-hoc projects and tasks relevant for the Risk S&O team


YOU'RE GOOD AT

Interest and passion for learning and gaining skills in all areas of Risk Management and their impacts. Confident in asking questions and seeking support where needed

Ability to organize and prioritize work across a broad range of topics, working effectively with ambiguity and competing priorities and pressing deadlines

Take initiative and work independently

Maintains a high degree of discretion and confidentiality

Excellent verbal and written communication skills (e.g., assisting the team to draft various communications, presentations)

Strong data analytical skills and attention to detail (e.g., working with large sets of data, analyzing / summarizing the results for various audiences using different means of communications, noticing patterns and exceptions)

Strong research skills to find and synthesize complex industry frameworks and best practices, competitor actions, whitepapers, etc.


YOU BRING (EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS)

Must be an undergraduate student currently enrolled in Northeastern University and approved by the university to participate in the January to June 2025 co-op cycle

Pursuing Bachelor's degree in a relevant field

At least 1 prior work experience in a professional environment

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Strong working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint

Experience creating creative and effective PowerPoint slides for various audiences

Experience with data analytics (e.g., use of pivot tables, vlookup, macros in Excel) and ability to synthesize data into key outputs for leadership. Experience with Tableau or other Business Intelligence tools and/or Alteryx is a plus

Interest in risk management, strategy, operations, and the consulting industry

Prior experience working in a team environment; being an effective team player will be a critical success factor in this role and is a plus

Independent thinker who can anticipate next steps and broader thinking beyond immediate tasks

Ability to work effectively in a hybrid-virtual environment while fostering and maintaining relationships within the team and other the co-ops


YOU'LL WORK WITH
This role will support the Risk Strategy and Operations Team and may require interaction with other members of the broader Risk Function, including those located in different geographies and time zones. We are excited to share many aspects of Risk Management and Strategy, from the Risk Management process to the larger complex strategy and operations of the function and firm.
