Manages the business activities for Risk leadership which includes the development and execution of the organization’s Enterprise Risk Management program. Identifies, assesses, and documents key risk areas. Manages process improvement initiatives related to top compliance risks. Builds effective working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders. Works under general supervision.
Responsibilities
Participates in the development of risk management policies, procedures and workflows that help mitigate risk, ensure compliance, and protect VNSNY.Coordinates VNSNY’s comprehensive enterprise risk assessment processes, which includes identifying top financial, strategic, operational, regulatory and fraud risks across the organization. Keeps Risk leadership abreast of the status of these activities. Works with risk owners to review, monitor, and assess new and emerging risks on a regular basis. Supports internal control identification and mapping to key risks.Oversees all risk and compliance related data in the Governance, Risk & Compliance (GRC) software system and is responsible for monitoring regular updates. Leads Governance, Risk, & Compliance (GRC) reporting efforts through the use of GRC software system.Collaborates with leadership to develop solutions in response to identified areas of risk including developing related risk management training. Collaborates with Compliance Department leadership to ensure compliance-related risks are consistently identified and addressed. Manages process improvement initiatives related to top compliance risk areas.Develops comprehensive risk reporting for VNSNY Leadership, including the VNSNY Board of Directors, Audit Committee and C-Suite. Acts as liaison to Compliance, Internal Audit, and Strategy on risk-related reports to management and the Board.Develops a strong understanding of VNSNY’s Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) Program. Proposes strategies or activities to improve efficacy and efficiency.Demonstrates a commitment to excellent customer service through prompt responses to internal and external customers.Develops relationships with affiliated departments, including Legal, Compliance and Internal Audit, and with leadership across VNSNY, to ensure appropriate cross-departmental collaboration and efficient document and project management.Stays abreast of best practices by keeping informed of the latest issues and trends in risk management and health care through networking, professional memberships in related organizations and select journal readership. Performs other related duties, as required.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, health care administration, risk management or a related field required. Master’s degree in risk management or related field preferred.
Experience: Minimum four years risk management experience required. Demonstrated ability to define problems and propose solutions required. Demonstrated business writing and project management and facilitation skills required. Knowledge of best practices of risk management and internal controls required. Strong analytical, planning and organizational skills required. Strong written and verbal communication skills required. Strong proficiency with personal computers and applications, including Microsoft Windows Excel, Word, and Power Point required. Experience with Governance, Risk & Compliance (GRC) software systems preferred.
