Risk Manager

Reporting to the Head of Risk for Travel, the Risk Manager ensures effective risk management aligned with Allianz Partners' global framework and regulations for the Travel line of business. They collaborate with first and second-line defense leaders to identify, assess, and mitigate risks while integrating internal controls.

 

This role offers the chance to contribute to Allianz Partners' Global Risk Programs and lead initiatives based on experience. Collaborate with multi-cultural teams to drive global best practices and impactful solutions.

 

The ideal candidate has strong relevant experience and a deep understanding of specialized and broad business topics. Operating with high autonomy, the Risk Manager analyzes complex issues, oversees support teams, and ensures effective execution of processes.

 

The position follows a hybrid schedule working 2 days in-office at our Richmond, VA location.

 

 

Key Responsibilities/What you do

 

Oversee, coordinate and lead Risk management topics, including topics across global locations as required. Act as Single Point of Contact for Risk topics across the organization. Provide support for internal control programs and projects designed to identify and manage significant risks related between others to: Financial Reporting, Information Technology, Legal, Compliance and Operations Develop and maintain a good understanding of the travel business and liaise closely with management. Work with business units and provide risk expertise and consulting for projects and initiatives. Support the management, monitoring and reporting global business operations risks. Conduct risk assessments to determine impacts of risk issues and facilitate appropriate escalation and implementation of the decisions. Support and provide advice during decision-making processes. Monitor news around market and evaluate current and potential risk exposure. Identification of changing regulations and industry risk trends that may have an enterprise-wide impact. Monitor the implementation and effectiveness of risk management activities. Participate in the organization, as well as lead and present topics in the Risk Committee and other meetings as required. Facilitate the Risk management process and provision of Risk management delivery support (this includes among others, the Top Risk Assessment, and Internal Control Framework). Support identification and review of tail scenarios applicable to travel insurance business Coordinate the effective implementation and maintaining of a network of Risk and Internal Control coordinators as well as the provision of risk training to the wider business. Promote a positive Risk Culture within the business.

 

 

Key Requirements/What you bring

 

Bachelor’s degree in business, finance or related field or equivalent combination of work and education experience. 4-8 years of relevant experience and demonstrated Risk Management Skills Demonstrated ability to lead independently and drive risk culture across the business and engage with sr. leaders Risk Management or internal control accreditation or Accounting or Auditing qualification. Knowledge of best practices and trends in Enterprise Risk Management and internal control frameworks. Relevant quantitative skills enabling review of exposures across all risk categories. Understanding of risk-based capital and insurance solvency requirements is a plus Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint). Fluency in English. Strong communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills, with ability to influence stakeholders. Ability to take ownership and exercise independent judgment. Excellent time management and ability to work on numerous tasks with multiple departments simultaneously. Ability to work well under pressure and meet strict deadlines. Team player, excellent interpersonal and communication skills in a multi-cultural context.
