Job Description

This role presents an exciting opportunity to drive the continued enhancements of reputation risk oversight across the enterprise; responsible for ensuring that reputation risks are identified and managed across the enterprise. The Risk Manager is responsible for developing and executing the organization's reputation risk management framework, which will include expanding formal oversight of first line environmental and social due diligence processes and managing oversight of policy, processes, and other activities to mitigate reputation risk enterprise wide. The Risk Manager will establish oversight protocols of first line risk activities, further expand reporting and metric monitoring, and creating scalable processes, to ensure reputation risk is effectively managed. The role will report to the Environmental and Social Risk Management Director.

The role will require a strong drive to build out new risk oversight protocols, expert knowledge of risks and controls, strong ability to work across business areas to influence change, and strong critical thinking and problem solving skills, including the ability to analyze operational and financial impact of reputational exposures and risk mitigation approaches while providing effective challenge to first line of defense functions.

The highly complex and intellectual role requires a unique ability to assess reputation risk using a strong knowledge of business line activities and considering a multitude of factors such as external events and trends, as well as the consideration of environmental and social risk factors and industry and regulatory dynamics.

Key responsibilities include:
• Building and executing Environmental and Social Risk Policy oversight protocols, including the enterprise environmental and social due diligence processes. Provide feedback and recommendations to enterprise stakeholders, including through the opening of formal issues, on the adequacy of business line risk identification.
• Developing and managing reputation risk reporting and metrics to identify, monitor and escalate reputation risks across stakeholder and business areas.
• Overseeing the creation and effectiveness business line procedures, controls and issues associated with reputation risk.
• Creating and overseeing processes and procedures that manage reputation risk, including internal controls and control documentation such as the RCSA.
• Building on existing risk activities by partnering with other second line of defense programs, including Credit Risk, Risk Identification, and Climate Risk.
• Advising on issue remediation to ensure reputation risks are sufficiently mitigated.
• Engaging with external stakeholders such as Corporate Audit and regulatory agencies.
• Coordinating and authoring reputation risk materials for the Corporate Responsibility and Reputation Committee, quarterly management letters, various risk working groups, and applicable disclosures.

Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree, or equivalent work experience
- Typically more than 10 years of applicable experience

Preferred Skills/Experience
- In-depth knowledge of enterprise risk management approaches and objectives (e.g. risk management framework, risk appetite, risk/material risk identification, risk measurement, policy development, data governance, committee governance)
- Robust understanding of U.S. Bank business areas, risk management programs and organizational structure
- Strong drive and ability to develop oversight programs using data, risk and control knowledge, and relationship management
- Strong leadership and management skills of processes, projects and people
- Strong problem-solving and people-influencing skills. Substantial examples of driving effective change through influence
- Current or prior leadership roles in risk management, experience in industry environmental and social risk management a plus
- Strong knowledge of Risk/Compliance/Audit competencies
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Data analysis experience with ability to identify anomalies or outliers
- Demonstrated ability to credibly challenge senior and executive level managers

The role offers a hybrid/flexible schedule, which means there's an in-office expectation of 3 or more days per week and the flexibility to work outside the office location for the other days.

The salary range reflects figures based on the primary location, which is listed first. The actual range for the role may differ based on the location of the role. In addition to salary, U.S. Bank offers a comprehensive benefits package, including incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase 401(k) contribution and pension (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). Pay Range: $133,365.00 - $156,900.00 - $172,590.00
