Risk Manager Full Time Days Position Summary

This position involves mitigating risk and protecting the health care organization, and providing a safe environment for its patients. The main focuses are reducing medical errors, improving patient safety, and staying current on federal and state laws and regulations.This position involves active participation in all patient safetycommittees, managing claims and service recovery, acting as a resource for hospital staff who have a legal concern, facilitating investigations, and assisting legal counsel in the litigation process.

SPECIAL SKILLS: Ability to conduct root cause analyses (RCA's) and debriefs. Ability to interview hospital and medical staff when necessary. Ability to interpret loss run reportsand create a monthly risk report for Administration. Ability to work with Corporate's legal department and assigned legal counsel. Ability to quickly research a legal question.Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word software. Experience with Midas and Cerner are desired.

RISK MANAGER FULL TIME DAYS CANDIDATE WILL POSSESS THE FOLLOWING EDUCATION, LICENSE/CERTIFICATIONS, AND EXPERIENCE.

MINIMUM EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree

PREFERRED EDUCATION: Graduate degree in health law, health education or health care management

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: Two years experience in Risk Management in a healthcare setting.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: Strongly prefer two years experience in Risk Management in an acute care setting. Familiar with Arizona State statutes and medical malpractice litigation.Clinical background and familiar with medical and legal terminology.
