Role DescriptionCreate and maintain an entity-wide economic model that projects periodic P&L performance, capital levels and economic value. Create, measure and monitor potential loss of value across different types of risks. Stress test economic model against economic cycles, market movements and liquidity conditions. Evaluate models used throughout the organization and ensure consistency and appropriateness for the business.
Role Objectives: DeliveryCreate and maintain an overall entity-wide economic model that projects both periodic P/L performance, capital levels and economic value leveraging structured and unstructured data and using statistical, financial, BI and AI techniques. Ensure model accounts for leverage and liquidity requirements. Create measure and monitor potential loss of value across different types of risks (credit, market, liquidity, operational) and sub-components of those risks (concentration, company / industry / sovereign default probabilities, yield, convexity, duration and FX, etc.). Stress test economic model against various economic cycles, interest rate and other market movements, and liquidity conditions. Evaluate results of stress testing against base case and regulatory requirements and create an action plan to optimize risk / return and increase capital levels. Evaluate models used throughout the organization and ensure consistency and appropriateness for the business. Work with business unit to optimize risk / return, remediate and avoid exceptions and identify root causes of non-compliance and variances to expected performance. Create an overall strategy to optimize risk / return and increase capital levels over a number of different time horizons.
Role Objectives: InterpersonalImprove modeling techniques and understand emerging issues through partnerships with consulting firms, academic institutions and other financial institutions. Establish relationships with rating agencies to help improve modeling and understand emerging trends. Work closely with units such as finance and IT to improve workflows and data gathering / sharing. Work cooperatively with industry specialists, country risk managers, credit review / analysis staff and relationship managers to determine and evaluate if potential risks are properly reflected in the models. Support long- and short-term planning, new product development, ALM and risk management meetings. Network within the industry through meetings, events and involvement with trade organizations to better understand emerging risk trends and how they are reflected in models. Establish relationships with auditors and regulators to better understand their concerns and reduce potential compliance issues.
Role Objectives: ExpertiseDisplay a working knowledge of financial markets and economics to create a valid set of variables and scenarios. Demonstrate advanced risk modeling techniques to take into account various types of risk, correlation between risks and idiosyncratic risk. Have a solid understanding of information technology and project management to create meaningful modeling and analysis. Utilize an advanced understanding of risk management systems across the organization to develop an overall modeling approach. Demonstrate a general understanding of data management and data types to improve model accuracy. Be familiar with financial services trends, emerging issues and regulatory requirements (CCAR, DFAST) to inform models. Communicate analytical data effectively to arrive at meaningful capital management strategies.
