General Description

Analyze and review credit quality of commercial loans portfolio, including but not limited to interpreting financial information; assessing the accuracy and timeliness of credit ratings; evaluating sufficiency of credit and collateral documentation; proper loan approval and lien perfection; adherence to loan covenants; loan structure; data integrity; compliance with internal policies and procedures, as well as applicable laws and regulations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities Evaluate credit quality, soundness of underwriting and risk identification, borrower performance, and adequacy of the sources of repayment, reasonableness of assumptions, credit worthiness of guarantors and sponsors, sufficiency of credit and collateral documentation among others. Determine proper approvals consistent with internal policies as well as adherence to loan agreement covenants. Monitor adequacy of, and compliance with, internal policies and procedures (such as those related to nonaccrual and classification or risk rating policies), laws, and regulations; the accuracy of risk ratings and the appropriateness and timeliness of the identification of problem loans by loan officers and loan structure and accuracy of data within Bank’s systems. Identification of findings and/or recommendations for business unit’s management, to address risks or issues identified during the examinations. Participation in special projects, target examinations and internal processes review may be also required from time to time.

 
 

Minimum Education

Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related field.

Experience

•    Minimum two years’ experience in commercial credit.
•    CPA & Loan Review Certification will be considered.
 
 

Other Qualifications Excellent customer service skills. Research skills and ability to analyze commercial credit situations, present alternatives, establish priorities and make decisions. Ability to interpret financial information and develop recommendations.  Excellent oral and written communication skills in both English and Spanish. Excellent organization skills required to establish priorities, multitask, work under pressure, and meet strict deadlines. Ability to analyze to understand processes and situations, evaluate options and make quick decisions. Outstanding interpersonal skills to maintain effective work relationships with coworkers and team. Excellent listening skills combined with the ability to present opposite points of view. Proficient in Microsoft Office: Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Availability to travel in and out of Puerto Rico. Flexibility to work extended hours, weekends, and holidays.
