We are looking for a Risk Specialist to join our team at AWE Nuclear Security Technologies.
Package: £38,140 up to £46,000 dependant on experience
Location: RG7 4PR, located between Reading and Basingstoke
AWE operates a 9-day working fortnight. We will consider flexible working requests so that your work may fit in with your lifestyle. Just let us know your preferred working pattern on your application. You will need to be on site up to 3 days per week.

A typical day for a Risk Specialist could look like this:
You will be assisting with delivery of risk, opportunities and risk (QRA) modelling including….
Identifying and developing improvements to the end-to-end risks and opportunity maturity.Ensuring the delivery of quality risk registers and confidence modelling to support the decision-making process on the projects.Facilitating risk reviews and ensuring the risk process is properly understood, applied and delivers value in supporting overall management of projects within the programme.Developing and maintaining working relationships with and awareness of key internal stakeholders.Acting as a subject matter expert within the programme to provide risk management guidance, and advice.Facilitating risk reviews and ensuring risks are adequately defined and properly entered into Active Risk Manager (ARM).Undertaking assurance reviews of risk information in ARM.Provide high quality and timely risk information to enable management review and action to reduce risk exposure.Supporting risk investment peer reviews.We’d like you to have some of the following experience or qualifications:
A background in risk management within a Project Controls environmentResilience and curiosity with attendant communication skillsUnderstanding and acting on Risk mitigations that add value to overall programme objectivesConstructively challenging stakeholders to understand risk and how to think about their risks differentlyA “show me!” and growth mindset approachFluidity of navigation between business and technical risk areas and show understanding of their connectivityQuals and professional memberships:
Management of Risk (MOR) – or equivalent experience Project controls processes for planning, estimating and cost-control Working with Risk Database software i.e. Active Risk Manager (ARM) etc.Quantitative Risk Analysis (QRA) software i.e. Safran and Primavera Risk Analysis (PRA)We recognise that great people don’t always ‘tick every box’.
