$3,000 Sign On BonusResponsibilities:  

1. Assists in the writing of treatment plans, progress notes, evaluations, and discharge paperwork in a clear and concise manner, resulting in completion of all assigned paperwork daily. 

2. Develops a strong working rapport with clients, superiors, and peers and participates as an intra- and inter-disciplinary team member. Attends daily treatment team meeting and shift change. 

3. Maintains the highest standards of ethics and demonstrates professional attitude and conduct, while maintaining professional boundaries. 

4. Stays current on, and abide by, all standards of nursing practices as recommended by the American Nurses Association and the policies and procedures of CHL and program and specific policies.

5. Renders and supervises care of clients on the unit assigned to. 

6. Ensures safety of clients at all times. 

7. Determines and implements specific detoxification protocols as designated by the medical director, as needed.

8. Transcribes, administers, and documents all medications ordered by the physician/psychiatrist. 

9. Orders all necessary medications for discharge. 

10. Advocates for, and coordinates, psychiatric consultation as needed. 

11. Provides patient education in regard to medication and harm reduction. 

12. Participates in multidisciplinary team meetings to discuss the client's condition, progress, issues, and discharge. 

13. Observe and assess patients for medical/clinical signs and symptoms and follows prescribed course of treatment, with notification to medical director as needed. 

14. Records and reports all pertinent information related to client’s condition and effects of treatment. 

15. Reports to the administrator on call all emergency, medical, and disciplinary situations that require administrative intervention (and information on all referrals that require feedback). 

16. Delegates job duties to licensed practical nurses and provides direction as needed for Residential Counselors. 

17. Participates with other staff members to implement program objectives and philosophy. Assists in the unit as assigned. 

18. Participates in regularly scheduled meetings, attends in-services/trainings and pursues professional development to keep current with best clinical nursing practice. 

19. Assists with phone, door, and desk coverage as assigned and needed. 

20. Takes phone referrals, completes referral forms, and reviews referrals with administrator as needed in a timely manner. 

21. Completes medication count on all shifts. 

22. Must be able to bend, kneel, and stand for long periods of time in order to assist clients when necessary and complete treatment protocols. 

23. Administer emergency care as needed (i.e. CPR, seizure, Narcan protocol, activating EMS, de-escalation techniques). 

24. Utilizes a culturally and linguistically appropriate care and consistently take a trauma informed approach. 

25. Completes accurate shift report and participates in shift change. Ensures proper documentation of incident reports. 

26. Facilitates weekly nursing groups as needed. 

27. Collaborates with other CHL staff and programs ex: housekeeping, safety officers, and staff from other units as necessary. Communicates professionally with internal and external people/organizations. 

Specialty Responsibilities: 

Charge Nurse: as assigned by the DON, nurse manager, and program director. When assigned charge duties you are expected to: 

1. Maintain overall shift operation in a safe, efficient and effect manner in the absence of management. 

2. Direct and supervise staff including all RNs, LPNs, Agency personnel and Direct Care Staff/ RCs in the absence of management to ensure the delivery of safe and effective patient care. 

3. Resolves problems on the unit before he/she reports off and communicates any pertinent information to the responsible party on the incoming shift. 

4. Reports to management team all issues on the unit in a timely manner and utilizes administrator on call for any emergency, medical, and disciplinary situations that require further intervention. 

Qualifications: 

1. Valid and current RN license in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. 

2. Satisfactory CORI background check and DCF/CPS (Department of Families Adam Walsh/Child Protective Services) background check.

Experience/Skills: 

Required: 

1. Demonstrates a basic, functional knowledge of nursing skills, has a fundamental understanding of addiction and mental health issues in adolescent clients. 

2. Minimum of 2 years’ experience working with adults and/or adolescents and/or experience in a detox setting. 

3. Commitment to providing outstanding care. 

Preferred: 

1. Bilingual (Spanish/English) oral and written communication skills. 

Unless certification, licensure or registration is required, an equivalent combination of education and experience which provides proficiency in the areas of responsibility listed in this description may be substituted for the above requirements.
