Overview The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for managing the individualized patient care by promoting and restoring patients’ health through the nursing process. The RN provides direct patient care, including assessment, diagnosis, planning implementation, evaluation, and patient health education within the guidelines of the standards of nursing care. Responsibilities Conducts patient intake evaluations and assessments for Cardiac Phase II patients. Develops individualized plan of care based onintake evaluation. Creates exercise prescription and assessed level of risk for new patients Performs monthly re-assessment of patients including sending reports to physicians. Daily medical monitoring of Phase II Cardiac Rehab patients including ECG, BP, RPE, and blood glucose checks when indicated. Creates daily session reports for Phase II Cardiac Rehab patients. Provides daily supervision of Phase III wellness patient including periodic BP and HR measures. Stabilizes patient in emergency or potential emergency situation; oversees emergency situations including interacting with physician and EMS. Oversees patient registration and insurance verification by communicating with business office. Creates and delivers weekly group and individual education lectures: utilizes videos and handouts to educate Cardiac Rehab patients. Maintains all clinical and exercise equipment per department and hospital standards. Serves as shift charge nurse as needed and assigns duties of all personnel based on patient care and productivity needs. Coordinates care in collaboration with members of the patient’s treatment team to provide assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation services. Performs physical exams, health histories, nursing assessment and routine observation for patients within established time frames. Provides direct patient care including administering medications, wound care, injections, intravenous infusions and other treatment interventions while operating standard critical care equipment safely and correctly. Recognizes and intervenes in life threatening emergencies, including the administration of emergency drugs, and defibrillator or other emergency treatment. Documents patient assessment findings, care rendered, procedures performed, and other various aspects of patient plan of care making periodic updates related to the patient’s condition and response to treatment. Provides patient and family health education based on assessed needs for indicated health conditions, medications, overall wellness, and directions for follow up care. Adheres to Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) guidelines and quality control methods. All other duties assigned by department. Qualifications Required education: Associates degree in nursing Required experience: 1 year of cardiovascular experience
