Unit Highlights:
The Blood and Marrow Transplant Unit (BMTU) is a 32-bed inpatient unit dedicated to caring for patients receiving blood stem cell transplants, bone marrow transplants, or cord blood transplants.
Our program is accredited by the Foundation for the Accreditation of Cellular Therapy (FACT), which is the threshold for excellence in cellular therapy and demonstrates our commitment to our patients.
The BMT program hosts an annual transplant survivor reunion which includes staff from all aspects of the transplant process (inpatient staff, infusion center, transplant coordinators and physicians).
About the Unit:
The Blood and Marrow Transplant Unit (BMTU) is a 32-bed progressive care inpatient unit dedicated to caring for patients undergoing treatment for leukemia, lymphoma, and other blood dyscrasias. The BMT program is accredited by the Foundation for the Accreditation of Cellular Therapy (FACT) for both stem cell transplant and immune effector cells, which is the threshold for excellence in cellular therapy. In 2022, the nurses on the BMT floor performed 122 stem cell transplants and multiple CAR-T therapies. Our Community of Caring Nurses on BMT have the opportunity to collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, pharmacists, social workers, and other healthcare professionals to provide the best possible care to their patients.
• Patient Care Model: RNs & Patient Care Technicians/Nurse Technicians
• Ratios: 3-4 patients per RN based on acuity
Patients undergoing stem cell transplant often require specialized, complex, and often long-term follow-up care. Nurses in a BMT unit develop long-term relationships with their patients and provide ongoing support and care which can be very fulfilling.

Overall, working on the BMT unit can be a challenging and rewarding experience for nurses who are interested in caring for patients with complex medical needs, working with a multidisciplinary team, and contributing to the advancement of the field. Nurses on the BMT unit have the opportunity to develop specialized skills and knowledge related to stem cell transplant and the care of patients with blood disorders. They may also can participate in research studies and clinical trials, which can contribute to the advancement of the field. The role you’ll contribute:
The ANM is a registered professional nurse who supports the Nurse Manager or Director in overall operations of their assigned unit. Is able to demonstrate critical thinking skills, creativity, and has the knowledge to manage resources to achieve quality performance, positive employee relations, and compliance with hospital guidelines. The ANM is skilled in coaching, mentoring, and leading a professional and technical team in the delivery of services to our patient population. The ANM assures quality of care is delivered to our patients and demonstrates effective stewardship of scarce resources. Is supportive of change activities on their unit and works to assure implementation of change that may occur. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.

The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed:
Minimum qualifications :
Associate’s degree or Diploma in Nursing
Specific experience as delineated by the unit of employment
Current valid State of Florida or multistate license as a Registered Nurse
Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
Advanced Life Support Certifications (ACLS, PALS, NRP) per specialty/unit requirements
EKG competency
Preferred qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree of Nursing (BSN) or Master’s degree in Nursing (MSN)
Professional Certification
