Position Summary:

 

Consults, evaluates, plans, implements, and documents nursing care and interventions for patients in need of intravenous treatment including therapy, vascular access needs, and medication.

     

Responsibilities:

 
Determines appropriate venipuncture site and performs Ultrasound Guided placement of Peripheral IVs and Midlines for complex IV starts
Provides information to patients, families, and co-workers regarding intravenous interventions
Completes daily central line surveillance and assessment rounds on nursing units
Supports implanted device access/de-access and assessment for complications
Acts as a subject matter expert
Precepts nurse residents and fellows during field experiences
A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected
Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department
Performs other related duties as assigned
Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the field
Regular and predictable attendance is an essential job function
Competent to meet age specific needs of the unit assigned

       

Requirements and Minimum Qualifications:

 
Graduate of a nationally accredited Nursing program
BSN required
State of Idaho Registered Nurse or licensure pending as documented by temporary licensure OR current RN licensure from a state participating in the "multistate privilege to practice" compact with Idaho
Current Infusion Nurse Certification (CRNI) or Vascular Access Board Certification (VA- BC) certification preferred
Implanted Access Device class and skills preferred
3 to 5 years’ experience in related field preferred
BLS Required.  Current AHA Healthcare provider, American Red Cross, AHA Health  Saver or KH BLS during General Orientation

       

Working Conditions:

 
Must be able to maintain a standing and/or sitting position
Typical equipment used in a clinical job
Must be able to stoop, crouch, or bend
Must be able to push, pull, or transport heavy equipment
