+ JOB SUMMARY + The RN Charge Nurse will demonstrate competency in the role of clinical charge nurse with responsibilities for delegation of assignments for patient care, communication with physicians, and problem solving/decision making. Supervises RN's, LPN's, PCT's and Unit Secretaries. Works in conjunction with Dietary, EVS, and other ancillalry departments. + DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES + Demonstrates Competency in the Following Areas: + Education/Regulatory Requirements: + Current MS state nursing license. + Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certificate. + Current ACLS certification OR obtain within six months of hire. + One - three years work experience in department-specific area. + Skills: + Precepts other charge nurses to the position as needed. + National certification in the area of specialty is encouraged. + Senior charge nurse may be requested to act as head nurse in the absence of head nurse.
