RN Clinic - Surgery

We have an exciting opportunity in our Hutchinson Clinic for a RN to support our Surgical staff. This position will work 3 days a week and is eligible for all benefits. Prior experience in a surgical setting is strongly preferred.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities-
Provides professional nursing care to surgical patients in an outpatient/clinical setting in close partnership with surgeons. Assists in coordinating the timing of surgery with surgeon schedules, surgical services, scheduler, and patients. Documents post op and recheck visit appointments as needed. Assists general surgeons with daily tasks. Manages general surgery team task list, physician task lists (triage calls, work slips, test results, etc.) and surgeon call schedule. Assists with the VNUS vein ablation program by scheduling procedures, providing patient education, and post op care of patient. Support the Surgeons clinic by assisting the surgeon in clinic visits with patient care (wound care, procedure visits, patient education, scheduling, etc.). Provide nurse visits, in-person, and phone visits, for post-op checks, dressing changes, suture removals, and rechecks as appropriate and document in the visit and update/follow-up with the surgeon as necessary. Manage the breast biopsy results (abnormal & malignant). Communicate with patients PCP and with surgeons. Coordinate appropriate care such as ordering imaging, assisting in scheduling surgical consults, and placing referrals if needed. Manage the endoscopy results/workflow by notifying the patients about results & recommend follow up. Document in results and update healthcare maintenance in patient chart and endoscopy sheet. Assists the general surgeons with outreach clinic/hospital services, scheduling and patient follow-up if needed. Interacts with other service areas and any interdisciplinary care team members to coordinate flow of patient and optimal care. Cross-trains to support other surgical specialties (ENT, Podiatry, Gastroenterology, Urology) as needed. Participates in process improvement activities in the clinic and hospital setting. Provides support and collaboration with the family practice providers for surgery and wound care needs. Performs other duties as assigned.Experience and Skills:
Good oral and written communication required. Ability to work independently and make autonomous decisions. Critical thinking and the ability to manage time and prioritize tasks is required. Surgery and/or clinic experience is strongly preferred.
