Position Summary
Responsible for facilitating patient flow through the unit, reviewing staffing and creating nursing assignments, supervising patient care, expediting tests and services with other departments, and ensuring compliance with all DOH, TJC, and hospital regulations.
Primary Position Responsibilities
1. Assumes the responsibility of clinical oversight for a given shift to facilitate patient throughput.
2. Makes patient/nurse assignments taking into account patient acuity and staff experience level.
3. Collaborates and communicates with Administrative Nursing Supervisor, health care providers, and staff to expedite patient flow, address medical and patient satisfaction issues, and collaborate with discharge planners to carry out discharge plans.
4. Committed to shared governance, support of nursing research, quality improvement, practice confidentiality and acknowledges fiscal responsibility to benefit the organization as a whole
5. Participates in staff evaluation and education requirements, and acts as an experienced role model and support for all staff member including new hires.
Qualifications
Minimum Education:
Required:
All hires after July 2012 are required to have a Bachelor's Degree in nursing OR if Associates Degree or Diploma, RN must provide proof of enrollment in a BSN program prior to hire, be continuously enrolled and complete within 5 years of hire date or internal RN promotion date.
Preferred:
Certificate and/or Advanced Specialized or Technical Training Progressive Care or Med-Surg.

3 years acute care nursing experience.

Current New Jersey RN licensure.
Current American Heart Association CPR Certification

Complete yearly competency based program, use hospital approved equipment, excellent communication and conflict resolution skills, well organized and able to remain calm under stress, delegate appropriate tasks, knowledgeable in both DOH and TJC regulations and hospital policy and procedure.
