Summary
The Health Education Nurse assists with health screenings, community educational programs, health displays, administration of influenza vaccines, and clerical or other office duties as assigned.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
These duties and responsibilities described below represent the general tasks performed on a daily basis; other tasks may be assigned.
+ Participate in health screenings at the hospital or in the community
+ Team lead for Health Screenings including running the clinic, supplies and coordination of staff.
+ Assist with setting up rooms for health fairs and screenings
+ Utilize screening equipment during events, which may include:
+ Cardio Check machine for cholesterol and blood sugars
+ Blood glucose monitoring machines for blood sugars
+ Blood pressure cuff and stethoscope for blood pressures
+ Bone density screenings for osteoporosis
+ Omron for BMI indexing
+ Derma scan for skin cancer detection
+ Educational Wheel (nutrition bingo)
+ Be able to perform fit testing demo exercises
+ Able to work the Bone Density machine for Osteoporosis Screenings
+ Keep screening equipment in clean and working order; clean machines after each screening
+ Perform controls and record results in screening notebook
+ Give current and accurate health information to screening participants in a respectful and confidential manner
+ Work outside events, such as health fairs, by setting up displays and providing program information for businesses and the community about services offered by Chesapeake Regional Medical Center and the Lifestyle Center.
+ Teaches baby-sitting classes or assist with class instruction.
+ If certified for MAT teaches and coordinates all MAT classes.

Education and Experience
Minimum Required Education: Successful completion of RN program
Preferred Education: 4 years in nursing experience
Experience: Minimum of 1 year of experience in the nursing field
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
Must have current Virginia Nursing License. Must maintain CPR/AED certification. If not certified at time of hire, must obtain within 90 days of start.
