RN Diabetes Educator - Sweet Beginnings *Per Diem*

Join our team as a RN Diabetes Educator for our Sweet Beginnings program at Providence St. Joseph Hospital in Orange, CA.  This position is Per-Diem that will work 8-hour shifts.  There are no weekends required in this position.

Our Sweet Beginnings team works closely with our gestational diabetic and Type2 DM patients to manage their blood sugar through a healthy meal plan, exercise plan, and regular check-ins to help them have a safe delivery and a healthy baby. 

Patients are seen from the first trimester, through their pregnancy and 1-month post-partum, helping them to set goals for a healthy pregnancy and beyond. 

Under the direction of the Manager of Outpatient Perinatal services, the Perinatal Nurse Educator works independently providing patient education to expectant patients and their families in various settings such as group, individual and telephone contact.  This position is responsible for researching, developing, implementing and evaluating education programs for patients, staff and the community.  Educational classes taught by the perinatal nurse educator may include topics on safety, healthy environment, preventative measures, the labor and delivery process, role adjustments in the family after delivery, and diabetes education.

Required Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Nursing. California Registered Nurse License upon hire National Provider BLS - American Heart Association upon hire Certification in Childbirth Education (for Childbirth Educator; not needed for Diabetic Educator or Sweet Beginnings Program Educator) upon hire 1 year Clinical obstetrics or clinical education. Windows and PowerPoint experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

Member of the American Diabetes Association upon hire Specialty certification through National Certification Board for Diabetes Educators (NCBDE) - Certified Diabetic Educator upon hire 2 years Experience in clinical education.
