Support Addiction Medicine in the Dependent Drug Stewardship Program. Scope of Work Using tools of consulting, mentoring, coaching and interprofessional collaboration, the nurse educator facilitates the professional role development and growth of nurses and other healthcare personnel along the continuum from novice to expert.Functions in the roles of change agent, mentor, facilitator of learning, leader, champion of scientific inquiry (application of research, evidence based practice and improvement science), and partner for clinical practice transitions.Nurse educators are REQUIRED to obtain their nursing administration or professional/specialty certification within 12 months of assuming the role, or within 12 months of achieving eligibility to sit for the exam if not eligible upon hire in to the role. + Oversees orientation, as part of the onboarding process, to ensure that new hire/transfer employees have the knowledge and skill to safely practice independently in their role. The educator develops, coordinates, manages, facilitates, conducts, and evaluates orientation programs for nursing and other healthcare personnel. + Develops, coordinates, manages, facilitates, conducts and evaluates competency programs. The educator collaborates with operational leaders to address deficits in employee’s knowledge and skills. + Designs and develops educational opportunities to achieve specific outcomes related to identified deficits or opportunities for improvement in knowledge, skills and practice. This may include obtaining continuing education approval. + Fosters interprofessional learning and enables effective collaboration to improve practice outcomes for the nurse and other health care personnel. Functions as a mentor, coach, and resource in the development of nursing and other clinical support roles as the employee transitions throughout their career life cycle. + Applies research, evidenced based practice and quality improvement principles in education, professional role development, orientation, and competency.
