South Pointe Hospital's Emergency Department has 22 beds and provides 24/7 emergency services, ranging from minor injuries to critical and resuscitative care, to more than 35,000 patients of all ages each year. Known for their collaborative, team-based approach, this department strives to be the best place to receive care and is focused on providing an environment for caregivers to learn and become experts in their field. **A caregiver in this position works varying shifts.** A caregiver who excels in this role will: + Provide direct nursing care. + Implement and monitor patient care plans. + Monitor, record and communicate patients' conditions. + Note and carry out physician and nursing orders. + Assess and coordinate patients' discharge needs. Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: + Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing. + Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN). + Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA). + External applicants: two years of recent related nursing experience. + Internal applicants with less than two years' experience, but post orientation/90-day probationary period, could be considered with the Chief Nursing Officer level review and approval. + Will consider military RN experience. Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: + Bachelor of science in nursing (BSN). + Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or willing to obtain within one year of employment. + Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or willing to obtain within one year of employment.
