• A 52-bed unit with 4-bed triage area and additional overflow capabilities to accommodate a fluctuating census. This unit cares for patients who are antepartum, during labor and delivery, and postpartum.• There are 2 operating rooms and a recovery room with 2 recovery bays on the floor. The OR suites are staffed by Family Birth Center and Surgical Technologists trained for cesarean sections and post delivery procedures.
• All rooms are equipped with an emergency call system to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). Labor nurses are trained to circulate in the OR and PACU to maximize continuity of care.
• Family Birth Center has a trained flight team that provides regional AirMed services.
• RNs care for all labor patients, are the circulating and PACU nurse for the FBC OR.
• LPNs are trained along with the CNAs to provide care to postpartum moms and babies. Assignments of postpartum patients include both the mom and baby.
Nurse - Patient Ratios:
• 1:3-4 for postpartum and newborns (3-4 couplets.)
• Active Labor patients: 1:1
• The patient population includes high and low-risk antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum women and their well newborns.

Qualifications
Graduate from an accredited nursing program required, including, but not limited to, American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN), Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN), and National League for Nursing Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation (NLN CNEA). Bachelor’s Degree in nursing preferred.Currently holds an unencumbered RN license with the State Board of Nursing where the practice of nursing is occurring and/or possess multistate licensure if in a Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) state. Obtains and subsequently maintains required department specific competencies and certifications.
