Job Summary: The RN FIT (Internal Float Pool) is an experienced registered nurse that willingly floats to multiple inpatient and outpatient units/departments to supplement staffing resources throughout Loma Linda University Medical Center�Murrieta (LLUMC-Murrieta) as needed to cover high census needs, sick calls, vacations, vacancies and federal and state legislative leaves. The RN FIT does not have a physical home unit, but instead functions out of a home department and receives assignment at the beginning of each shift. May be re-assigned during shift based on business needs. Skillfully adapts to a variety of clinical settings. Meets qualifications, licensure/certifications and competencies as defined in the department-specific Plan for Providing Care for each unit/department in neighborhood(s). Utilizes discretion and independent judgment in applying the nursing process to the provision of age-specific and developmentally appropriate quality patient care. Applies theoretical concepts to clinical practice and continually expands knowledge base and clinical skills. Embraces new knowledge, innovations and improvements in practice to enhance the patient experience and clinical outcomes. Functions in a skills mix environment and directly supervises and delegates tasks to licensed and unlicensed staff. Utilizes interpersonal skills to maximize excellence in customer service, safe patient care and professionalism. Demonstrates a team player spirit and attitude that contributes to nurse satisfaction and retention. Contributes to a work environment of caring and cooperation among a culturally diverse workforce and patient population. May be required to participate in on-call rotation based on department business needs.  May be required to serve in shift coordinator role upon completion of shift coordinator orientation. Performs other duties as needed.

Education and Experience: Associate's Degree in Nursing required. Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing preferred at time of hire with expectation of achieving Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing within three years of hire. Minimum two years clinical nursing experience in respective neighborhood required.

Knowledge and Skills: Demonstrates proficient competencies in clinical nursing for multiple units/departments in assigned neighborhood(s). Skillfully adapts to a variety of clinical settings. Applies theoretical concepts to clinical practice and continually expands knowledge base and clinical skills with a focus in neighborhood(s) of specialty. Basic knowledge of healthcare regulations and accreditation required. Exhibit professional behavior at all times. Able to: speak, read and write legibly in English (and Spanish preferred) with professional quality; use computer, printer and software programs necessary to the position, e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, electronic medical record, electronic event reporting program; troubleshoot and calibrate patient care equipment; perform technical patient care activities; relate and communicate positively, effectively and professionally with others; be assertive and consistent in following and/or enforcing policies; work calmly and respond courteously when under pressure; lead, supervise, teach and collaborate; accept direction; think critically; work independently with minimal supervision; perform basic math and statistical functions; manage multiple assignments effectively; organize and prioritize workload; work well under pressure; problem solve; recall information with accuracy; pay close attention to detail; distinguish colors and smells as necessary for patient care; hear sufficiently for general conversation in person and on the telephone; identify and distinguish various sounds associated with the work place; see adequately to read computer screens, medical records and written documents necessary to position; discern temperature variances through touch.

Licensures and Certifications: Current California Registered Nurse license required. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association required. Meets other requirements specified in the department-specific Plan for Providing Care.
