The Administrative Coordinator assumes administrative responsibility for all hospital services during all shifts, makes decisions in the best interest of our patients and reports critical incidents to the Senior Administrator On Call. S/he will be vested with the authority to intervene in order to assure the safe and efficient operations of the hospital.
ResponsibilitiesPatient Care
* Demonstrates and utilizes the guidelines of care and practice via the nursing process and in accordance with Arizona State Board of Nursing Laws and Regulations.
Administrative
* Consistently interprets and executes applicable organizational policies, procedures, rules, and regulations.
* Demonstrates knowledge and competency in staff scheduling software and clinical documentation system.
Leadership
* Oversees/directs activities of the Shift Management and NAH transfer center staff.
* Oversees the Physician Referral Line, deferrals and external transfers in accordance with hospital policies and EMTALA regulations.
* Identifies the need for changes in daily shift staffing based on established staffing plans and makes necessary arrangements for appropriate coverage.
* Available for problem-solving, coaching, and mentoring to nursing and ancillary staff.
* During an emergency initiates Incident Command System and functions as Incident Commander until incident resolves or until relieved of duty.
* Serves as a resource to all staff, coordinating with and in the absence of managers and directors.
Communication
* Leads the daily bed/staff debriefing meetings.
* Communicates and documents patient/family interactions/incidents, when applicable.
* Notifies appropriate personnel regarding unusual concerns/incidents and risk management and overcapacity issues.
* Coordinates requests for On-Call and Ancillary Depts during off hours.
* Function as a facilitator in the event of a system malfunction, i.e. tube, lab or O2 system.
* Intervene in incidents involving the management of potentially violent patients.
* Serves as liaison between all customers (internal and external) and Senior Administration.
Compliance/Safety
* If required for the position, ensures all certifications and/or licenses are up-to-date and valid prior to expiration dates.
* Completes all company mandatory modules and required job-specific training in the specified time frame.
* Stays current and complies with state and federal regulations/statutes and company policies that impact the employee's area of responsibility.
* Responsible for reporting any safety-related incident in a timely fashion through the Midas/RDE tool; attends all safety-related training programs; performs work in a safe manner; monitors work environment for possible safety issues and ensures others are also performing work in a safe manner.

High School Diploma or GED- Required
Graduate from accredited School of Nursing- Required
BSN- Required
Certification & Licensures
Active, unrestricted Arizona RN license- Required
BLS (American Heart Association)- Required upon hire
VVMC
ACLS (American Heart Association)- Required
PALS (Association Heart Association)- Required
Experience
Three years demonstrated clinical experience in an acute care setting- Required
Management experience as a Charge Nurse or above- Required
Charge RN or Transfer center RN experience- Required
Healthcare is a rapidly changing environment and technology is integrated into almost all aspects of patient care. Computers and other electronic devices are utilized across the organization and throughout each department. Colleagues must have an understanding of computers, and competence in using computers and basic software programs.
