RN IT Clinical Informatics Specialist

The RN IT Clinical Informatics Specialist, under direction of the Director of Training & Optimization, is accountable for the delivery of value-added health care informatics and technology which supports the strategic plan of the organization and achieves clinical, financial, and service quality objectives. To achieve this objective, the role manages communication and coordination of clinical service line participation with the support of Director and Senior Specialists to meet organizational objectives. This role is accountable for the quality of informatics services delivered, for coordination with IT application build and training teams, for coordination across system hospitals, and for contributing to the design and maintenance of systems to support multidisciplinary team functioning and continuity of services within LCMC Health. Also manages small to medium projects or specific aspects of larger projects for clinical or business applications in the healthcare environment.


Your Everyday

Develops an understanding of systems functionality, reporting capabilities, interfacing and integration associated with applications assigned. Participates in multiple aspects of electronic medical record development and implementation. Supports innovation in clinical practice and care delivery systems by staying current with innovations and literature in healthcare informatics and care delivery. Assists in application design, optimization, and innovation following change established change control methodologies and processes.Collaborates with multidisciplinary team members to assess, redesign and continually improve effectiveness and productivity of clinical and revenue cycle programs. Facilitates staff discussion and response to issues which effect clinical practice and care delivery. Assists in the development of policies, procedures, and protocols as they related to the use of clinical and revenue cycle applications.Anticipates and identifies complex clinical process, revenue cycle, and informatics issues. Monitors and measures the risk factors. Communicates risk factors to informatics leadership and stakeholders. Participates in project planning and justification and manages assigned projects to ensure the implementation of continuous quality control of process and deliverables.Serves as a resource person for daily operational issues within the electronic health record. Builds effective networks of internal and external subject matter experts. Direct liaison to health system Super Users/SMEs and LCMC Health Information Services. Meets with stakeholders to review solutions and issues, gain commitment on recommendations.Identifies barriers to change and accepts and manages ambiguity/complexity. Leads multidisciplinary groups toward solutions. Is visibly involved in obtaining customer feedback, incorporating customer requirements into service design and advocating for technical solutions to clinical processes. Provides support and coaches stakeholders in effective process analysis and improvement techniques and in using data to assess and improve department performance.Participates in training development and delivery, go-live and elbow support, testing activities (including scripting), reporting and clinical/revenue cycle needs prioritization for the electronic medical record.

Required: 5 years Clinical or quality leadership/coordination role. (LCMC)


EDUCATION QUALIFICATIONS

Required: Bachelor's Degree NursingPreferred: Master's Degree Nursing/Informatics (LCMC)

Extensive working knowledge of healthcare and systems.Analysis and problems solving principles with emphasis in user relations.Data gathering techniques and management of information applications is required.Ability to work independently and manage time well.Demonstrated ability to think critically, develop conceptual designs for clinical and/or revenue cycle services; plans and organizes successful projects.Demonstrated highly effective verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrated effectiveness as a group leader and participant. Demonstrated ability to collaborate with multiple members of the health care and administrative leadership team.Understands the impact of applications on healthcare processes and the integration/relationships between and among organizational applications.Effective verbal and written communication skills are necessary to advise and consult with user personnel and make formal presentations of project findings and recommendations.Effective customer service skills, with the ability to work with all levels within the organization.Ability to teach application functionality, design standards and process changes to the end user community and train the trainers.Excellent organization skills. Demonstrates confidence and creativity.Adheres to applications security and control procedures in accordance with departmental, vendor standards, and regulatory bodies
