0.50 FTE; 8-hour day, evening, and night shifts.Every other weekend rotation.Part-time benefit eligible position.The Mental Health unit is a 10-bed locked unit seeing patients with psychosis, schizophrenia, depression, anxiety, and bipolar disorders. Average length of stay is 6-7 days. There are 3-4 patients per nurse. This is a high functioning team who supports each other and are looking for better ways to provide patient care for patients during their hospitalization. Staff members are a mix of senior nurses and newer experienced nurses. The nurses work with the Mental health coordinators, unit social worker, and psychiatrists to provide a multidisciplinary treatment for the patients.
Job Description:
Nursing is the diagnosis and treatment of human response to actual or potential health problems. This includes establishing an intentional therapeutic relationship between a registered nurse and a patient and family. As a leader and the integrator of care, the professional nurse has the responsibility, authority, and accountability for planning, coordinating and evaluating the patient’s care needs.
Specializes in working with individuals, families, and groups with a focus on mental health. May work in a variety of settings including hospitals, clinics and the community.
Principle Responsibilities
◦ Demonstrates ability to coordinate, delegate, and direct unit operation, collaborates effectively with unit staff, leadership and other disciplines.Preceptor (only when acting in this role).
◦ Demonstrates ability to identify the orientee's learning needs, plans appropriate learning experiences and demonstrates ability to validate clinical competence of orientee.Other duties as assigned.

◦ Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association
◦ Current BLS certification from the American Red Cross
