We are looking for new grads to accelerate their progression to a high-acuity department through our innovative orientation program. These positions will have orientation in specific departments that will assist in preparation for your career in Surgery/Operating Room. Your professional development nurses will support you along the way and help you grow your professional practice to ensure you have a successful career in your chosen specialty.
The Surgery Department is a fast paced unit consisting of 18 state-of-the-art operating rooms and 2 labor and delivery suites which provide a wide range of surgical procedures, including robotic-assisted and minimally invasive surgeries. We are a Level 2 Trauma Center with an in-house staff available 24 hours per day year round. We employ a multidisciplinary team comprised of surgeons, anesthesiologists, residents, physician assistants, CRNAs, AAs, nurses, surgical technologists, surgical assistants, health unit coordinators, CNAs, center core technologists and environmental assistants.
Position Details:
Fulltime, 72 hours biweekly (0.9 FTE)After unit orientation this position can be a 9-hour shift: primarily day shifts (6:15am-3:45pm) with some PM and nights shifts, could be up to 6 off shifts within a 6-week scheduling period. Occasional weekend shifts as needed per unit need (cover PTO, FML, or vacations) or 12-hour shift: primarily day shifts (6:15am-6:45pm) with occasional night or weekend shifts as needed per unit need (cover PTO, FML, or vacations)Night and Weekend call rotation. Job Description:The registered nurse (RN) focuses on the health and wellness of individuals, families and populations in collaboration with other health care professionals by incorporating evidence-based practice in the management of acute illness, chronic disease, disability, and end-of-life care. The RN utilizes the nursing process and aligns practice with organizational policies, professional nursing standards and regulatory practice acts.
Major Responsibilities:
1. Assessment: Systematically and holistically assesses the patient’s physiological, emotional, sociocultural, spiritual, and financial status while considering lifestyle preferences and learning needs.
2. Planning: Collaborates with patients, families, and health care professionals to develop a patient-centered plan of care to promote health and optimize wellness.
3. Intervention: Provides competent and innovative patient care and education based on patient complexity, acuity, and nursing judgment within a culture of caring and safety.
4. Documentation: Documents nursing assessment, planning, interventions, implementation, and patient/family response.
5. Evaluation: Determines patient's progress toward achieving goal(s), and revises plan of care in collaboration with patient/family as needed.
6. Delegation and Supervision: The RN delegates, supervises and evaluates the effectiveness of tasks performed by Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN) or Unlicensed Assistive Personnel (UAP) who have the knowledge and skill to perform the task, taking into consideration the following:
