Position Summary:

Position Highlights:  R6 Oncology

Number      of beds on unit: 16Patient      population (age, diagnosis, specifics about unit):  The Oncology Unit is a 16-bed unit specializing in the care      of acutely ill Oncology/Hematology patients, with diagnosis-related to      acute and/or chronic illnesses, including but not limited to      Oncology/hematology diseases. The unit also takes low acuity medical/      surgical patients as needed.Nurse      to Patient ratio:  1:4-6Department      culture and resources:  The Oncology      unit is a fast-pace, team-oriented unit. We work closely with our      physician partners and ancillary team members to achieve the best outcomes      for our patients. We have a robust Partnership Committee that meets      monthly. We have a unit-based educator, 2 nurse supervisors and charge      nurses.Frequent      nursing skills/equipment used: Chemo      administration (for chemo-certified staff), Foley/IV/NG/Mediport      insertions, Central line care and lab draws, Nursing prioritization, IV      pumps, PCA pumps, Feeding pumps, Lift equipment, SCDs, Telemetry      monitoring, Patient connection
