The Supervisor, Clinical Operations Oncology RN is responsible for supervising the clinical staff and clinical operations of the Oncology department by performing the following duties personally or through assigned personnel. The Supervisor is expected to manage the overall unit, is for budget management, scheduling, payroll, overall safety of the unit, policies/procedures are accurate and complete, appropriate staffing levels. Although not a staff nurse, will be expected to step into direct patient care if urgent need arises.
Duties and Responsibilities:Assists in the development, review, and revision of standard operating policies and procedures in collaboration with senior management.Performs nursing tasks and functions within the scope and practice of RN licensure.Oversees and maintains needed staff certifications and licensing requirements.Provides education to clinical staff regarding the unit's program(s) as well as regulatory requirements.Is able to prioritize and resolve complex clinical issues escalated from staff nurses of assigned unit.Responsible for administrative support activities involving facilities management, pharmacy, utilization management, quality management, risk management.Assist Senior Management with the ongoing monitoring of performance measures and designing methods for improving the quality of care and service delivered in our physician practices. Initiate new performance measures to track and monitor.Controls wage and non-wage expenses including pharmacy and medical supplies in accordance with the budgetary guidelines set by the Organization.Monitoring and assuring the organization’s patient care standards and requirements, including areas such as safety and quality assurance are being followed. Stays current with applicable standards.Ensures proper coordination of the assigned clinical schedules to provide quality care and services, recommending schedule improvements as needed.Partners with physician leadership in developing outreach strategies regarding the unit’s program(s).May perform direct patient care within the scope and practice of the RN license.QualificationsEducation:
Bachelor's degree in Science in Nursing required. Master's degree preferred.
License/Certification:RN California state license required.
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) from American Heart Association or American Red Cross required.
Experience:Three (3) years of healthcare and/or medical office supervisory experience required. Five (5) years of Oncology experience preferred.
