Job Description:

JOB SUMMARY

The RN - Operations – Oncology RN systematically and continuously collects and assesses data in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team ta provided therapeutic care for patients and/or family members seen in the Cancer Center (hematology/oncology clinic, radiation oncology clinic and chemotherapy infusion.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION

For positions requiring education beyond a high school diploma or equivalent, educational qualifications must be from an institution whose accreditation is recognized by the Council for Higher Education and Accreditation.

Minimum Required: Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing.

Preferred/Optional: BSN

EXPERIENCE/KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES 

Minimum Required: Minimum of two years of a progressive nursing position in outpatient services/clinics. Strong experience working with ports; excellent IV placement skills; knowledge regarding quality improvement and standards of care within practice area; experience in teaching patient and families; excellent communication skills; ability to effectively delegate and supervise the work of other nursing team members and cancer center staff; Demonstrates the ability to function as a resource to co-workers in a multi-tasking environment; Able to analyze patient flow and recognize importance of preplanning. Demonstrates Leadership Skills

Preferred/Optional: Current Oncology experience.

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES 

The following licensure(s), certification(s), registration(s), etc., are required for this position.  Licenses with restrictions are subject to review to determine if restrictions are substantially related to the position.

Minimum Required: Current MI RN License. BCLS within 3 months of hire is required. certified in chemotherapy and biotherapy, by the ONS or other accredited program required within 6 months of hire if providing chemotherapy infusion.
