As an Operating Room (OR) Registered Nurse (RN) Unit Supervisor, you will continually pursue activities that will ensure smooth clinical operations/flow and compliance with Inova Health System's goal of providing safe, equitable, patient centered, timely, efficient and effective care in a holistic and evidence-based practice environment. Acting as a front-line leader who is accountable for delivering highly reliable results related to quality and best practices to improve the clinical operation of the unit is required. Your ability to support unit based shared governance and decentralized decision-making structures/processes is expected.
Job Responsibilities
Integrates evidence-based practice and research into clinical and operational practice while serving as a physician Liaison and primary information resource and point of contact for the unit.
Participates in the analysis of unit-based quality outcomes as well as development, deployment and enculturation of action plans that lead to systematic improvement in outcomes.
Provides individualized coaching and counseling to clinical staff on critical processes, standards and problem solving/critical thinking in a positive and non-punitive manner.
Serves as a role model to others in communication to patients, identifying concerns, diffusing potentially difficult situations and facilitating resolution.
Conducts effective safety huddles by making use of all relevant information and making appropriate decisions to ensure optimal outcomes.

Conducts quality checks to ensure compliance and team member adherence to high quality ISHAPED handoff.
Provides oversight of Registered Nurse rounding to ensure patient satisfaction and identify areas of opportunity.
Requirements:
One year of Operating Room nursing experience is required.
Two years or more of direct OR Registered Nurse Supervisory experience is highly desired.
Degree from an accredited school of nursing, BSN or MSN preferred.
RN License to practice in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
BLS for Healthcare Provider certification is required from AHA.
CNOR preferred.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Exhibits leadership ability that fosters teamwork and retention.
Demonstrates professionalism and ability to remain calm and lead in dynamic and busy situations.
Proficiency in computer skills, Microsoft Office and healthcare software required.
Strong problem-solving capabilities and prioritization.
Serve as a resource and mentor to other clinical staff on the unit.
