Job Duties
The RN Bed Coordinator in Placement Services coordinates patient flow and inpatient capacity management in coordination with physicians and procedural units and inpatient nursing units. Ensures compliance with the directives, policies, applicable laws and regulations.
This role is full-time, 36 hours weekly, 12 hours per day, nights from 7 pm to 7 am. At least three (3) years of RN work experience is required.
+ Serves as a strong role model in professional practice as evidenced by strong relationships with staff and members of other departments, effective communications, appropriate resource utilization, sound planning skills and personal commitment to providing the highest quality of patient care to every patient, every day.
+ Supervises assigned personnel within Patient Placement.
+ Assists with the orientation and integration of new employees.
+ Fosters a sense of pride in employees and promotes good morale.
+ Communicates pertinent information regarding patient flow activities and operations to appropriate personnel activating established triggers for escalation as defined by Capacity Management Plan.
+ Accountable for placement of all patients for all inpatient units utilizing defined unit specific admission criteria.
+ Participates in the formulation of nursing policies and goals as well as policies affecting other departments.
+ Communicates and interprets policies, procedures and regulations to patients, visitors and staff members.
+ Communicates significant issues on individual units to oncoming management personnel.
+ Prioritizes resources based on system wide assessment of bed availability.
+ Monitors occupancy trends and proactively plans for next day elective admissions, identifying trends while planning to meet expected demand for beds.
+ Carries out defined responsibilities in the disaster plan, cardiac arrest protocol, bomb threat, code orange and patient elopement procedures.
+ Supports Team Leaders and nursing staff in the advancement of their management skills.
+ Provides feedback for professional practice issues.
+ Serves as administrative representative.
+ Communicates pertinent information to administrator on call regarding capacity issues.

Education
Graduate from Specialty Training Program-Nursing (Required)
Experience
Minimum of 3 years-Nursing (Required), Minimum of 1 year-Managerial/Supervisory (Preferred)
Certification(s) and License(s)
Licensed Registered Nurse (Pennsylvania) - RN_State of Pennsylvania; Basic Life Support Certification - Default Issuing Body
