RN / Registered Nurse - Critical Care AIR TRANSPORT - Full Time - Nights

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS/SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

 The Air Critical Care Transport Nurse reports to the designated leader within PTN and Metro Health (MLF).

POSITION SUMMARY

The Air Critical Care Transport Nurse is a registered professional nurse who is responsible for providing safe, quality emergency medical and nursing care. The Air Transport RN is an integral part of the patient care delivery team working alongside a dedicated care giver (Flight RN or Flight Medic). The RN accepts individual and team accountability for providing excellent nursing care and positive customer service. Flight nurses will high quality of standards and education requirements within the Metro Health Air Program and supported by PTN. Incorporating a high-quality care to critically ill or injured patients in the acute care and/or scene flight environment. The flight RN works in collaboration with the health care members to facilitate patient transports. The Critical Care Transport RN provides ongoing monitoring and care management of the critically ill or injured patient during transport. The Air Medical Director available for clinical care issues.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

1. The flight nurse demonstrates a professional commitment to patients, team members, hospital physicians, nurses, and other personnel. The nurse supports the mission and values of the ProMedica Health System and Metro Health, while providing quality service in a safe and therapeutic environment.

2. Demonstrates a continuing advancement of knowledge and competencies through didactic and skills education. Responsible for continuous professional development, maintain certification and card classes, and contributes to the development and implementation of team goals.

 3. Documents treatment interventions, assessment, and medications concisely and precisely. The Critical Transport RN completes transport equipment, transport bag, and high-risk cart checks each shift and documents on logs appropriately.

4. Treats and stabilizes the patient’s needs at transferring medical facilities and/or scene flights. The nurse will navigate and advocate that the patient’s needs are met, reassessed, and treated continuously until the patient is delivered to a designated treatment facility.

5. Maintains regulatory agency requirements and complies with ProMedica Transportation Network’s and Metro Health policies, procedures, and protocols and is accountable for their actions. Supports and adheres to the State of Ohio and CAMTS standards. Maintains certifications as required.

6. Demonstrate skill competency and safety in performing the technical procedures and treatments required to meet the nursing care needs of the patient.

7. Performs initial and ongoing skill competencies under direction of the PTN and Metro Health educators and Medical Director. Will demonstrate proficiency with the following skills for adult, pediatric and neonatal patients: a. Bag-valve-mask ventilation with basic airway adjuncts, including LMAs b. Endotracheal intubation c. Ventilator Support/Ventilator Management d. Needle decompression of pneumothorax e. Umbilical Line Insertion f. Radial Arterial Blood Draws

 8. Leads and serves with support of the PHS and Metro Health values. Incorporates emotional intelligence to sustain a safe and professional environment. 9. Performs all other duties as assigned.
