Current Illinois Nursing licensureCertified as a Cardiac Device Specialist (Preferred)CPR CertifiedACLS CertifiedGraduate from an accredited School of Nursing.2 Years nursing experience in critical care and specialization in cardiac devices. Demonstrates mastery of nursing skillsClinical skills, sound judgment, communication skills and organizational skills.Able to guide and supervise nursing personnelKnowledge of EKG and recognition and diagnosis of arrhythmias.Knowledge of Hemodynamic monitoring and waveform recognition.Knowledge of cardiac and emergency drugs.Knowledgeable about the programmers, follow-up, and websites for all four major device companies (Medtronic, Boston Scientific, St. Jude, and Biotronik)Knowledge of cardiac devices, Pacemakers, ICDS, and Reveal monitorsGeneral Summary:
As an experienced practitioner, is accountable for providing high quality, individualized, goal directed care for all levels of patients in accordance with the philosophy of the Division of Nursing.
The RN Specialist Cardiac Device Clinic is a subject expert in device management and properly carries out the process of managing a device clinic across the spectrum from enrollment through patient care.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential Functions

Accurately conduct device checks for Pacemakers, ICDs and Reveal monitorsDownload and accurately assess remote transmissions from above devicesBill and code all checks accuratelyAccurately enter all patient/device information into Optima post implant or generator Change.Accurately chart in EpicEvaluate for appropriate and optimal function of the devicesEvaluate and accurately diagnose arrhythmiasAbility to determine what issues need to be discussed with the EP or MDTriage patients to MLP or MD/EP for follow up as necessaryAccurately schedule patients for follow up in Epic, Optima and websitesConduct patient teaching as neededIn addition, the RN Specialist is a subject expert in device management and properly carries out the process of managing a device clinic across the spectrum from enrollment through patient care:

Staff Nurses working in specialty areas possess a knowledge of procedures specific to that patient population including age specific needs. Must be able to recognize the needs and behaviors of the adult cardiac patient. Must be aware of the differences of patient ages and have the knowledge of the special needs to provide for the care of the patients.
