JOB SUMMARY 

We are seeking a dynamic Supply Chain Optimization Specialist with a background in nursing to join our growing team. This unique role combines expertise in healthcare delivery with supply chain management, focusing on optimizing medical supplies, equipment, and healthcare services. The ideal candidate will use their nursing experience to improve the efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and quality of the healthcare supply chain, ensuring that critical resources are available when needed and utilized in the most effective way possible.

The Supply Chain Optimization Specialist will analyze and identify opportunities to streamline and improve the healthcare supply chain, focusing on reducing waste, improving inventory management, and enhancing overall process efficiency. It will be necessary to utilize nursing expertise to provide insights into clinical needs, ensuring that the right supplies and equipment are available in the right quantities and at the right time for healthcare providers. This individual will work closely with nurses, physicians, and other clinical staff to understand their needs and challenges, translating these into actionable supply chain strategies. This role requires overview of the tracking and management of medical supplies, ensuring accurate forecasting and timely replenishment of stock. Monitor expiration dates, usage rates, and clinical demand to optimize inventory levels. The individual in this position must leverage data analytics and supply chain management software to monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and identify trends, providing recommendations for cost-saving initiatives and efficiency improvements. The Supply Chain Optimization Specialist will establish and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and vendors, ensuring high-quality products, cost-efficiency, and timely deliveries. They will ensure all supply chain activities comply with healthcare regulations, standards, and safety protocols. Maintain accurate records for auditing purposes. Additionally, they must lead or participate in process improvement projects within the supply chain, collaborating with cross-functional teams to identify inefficiencies and implement best practices. Lastly, they must educate clinical and supply chain staff on best practices for using and managing supplies, fostering a culture of efficient resource utilization and cost management.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Registered Nurse (RN) or equivalent clinical experience required. Degree in Nursing, Healthcare Management, Supply Chain, or a related field preferred. Master’s degree in Healthcare Administration or Supply Chain Management preferred.

Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in nursing or clinical practice. Strong understanding of healthcare operations, medical supplies, and hospital workflows.

Licensure: Active RN license upon hire required. Project Management Professional or similar certification/experience preferred.

 

Additional Skills/Requirements Required: 

Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.  Proficient in using supply chain management software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or similar). Ability to communicate effectively with clinical and non-clinical teams. Strong project management and organizational skills. Knowledge of healthcare regulations, compliance standards, and safety protocols.
