As our surgical services nurse at CHI St. Alexius Health Devils Lake, you will prepare patients for surgical procedures and assist in the operating room to ensure they receive excellent nursing care when they are at their most vulnerable.
Every day you will review consent forms, answer questions about the procedure, complete ongoing assessments and report findings to the provider, collaborate with the surgical team and ancillary departments, and update family members on the surgery status during the operation. You will have the opportunity to directly assist the surgeon in the intraoperative phase. The surgical nurse is responsible for preparing the patient for discharge, educate the patient about new medications, wound care, and ensure understanding of discharge instructions.
To be successful in this role you must have the ability to maintain focus while multitasking, remain calm under pressure, and exercise good judgment in emergency situations.

Qualifications
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. Active North Dakota (ND) Registered Nurse License.Compact RN license holders must obtain North Dakota licensure within 90 days of start date, if employee resides in the state of ND. Basic Life Support (BLS). ACLS & PALS
