JOB SUMMARY

The Surgical Specialty Coordinator (SSC) is a member of the Nursing Department. The Department of Surgical Services is part of Patient Care Services at Carroll Hospital Center. The SSC is responsible for the specialties he/she has been assigned. The SSC is a resource and educator of the staff regarding issues within the service line. They must possess thorough knowledge of their area of expertise, and stay abreast of changes in the industry. They must have excellent communication skills with all levels of associates, with physicians, vendors, and other departments. They are responsible for the coordination of care of the patient when functioning in the role of a circulating nurse, and hold full accountability for the safe care and oversight of the patients within the OR suite. The SSC must serve as a role model for others, must have excellent communication skills, good time management abilities, and be a critical thinker. The SSC reports directly to the Clinical Manager of the Operating Room or the Executive Director of Surgical Services in his/her absence. SSC must ensure that all services are delivered in accordance with the mission statement and SPIRIT values of Carroll Hospital Center.

REQUIREMENTS Required Associate's Degree Preferred Bachelor's Degree 4-7 years Required CNOR- Certified Nurse- OR CPR - AHA Healthcare Provider RN - Registered Nurse
