RN-Wound Care-Full-Time

The Wound Care Specialist provides comprehensive treatment and/or consultation to a select group of patients, acts as a role model and Lead to the nursing staff, uses scientific methods to upgrade nursing practice, serves as a consultant to physicians and nursing staff, participates in physician, patient and staff education.The Wound Care Specialist advocates early identification, treatment initiation, patient evaluation and appropriate discharge planning within the role of the Wound Care Specialist.   All employees will continually monitor and adhere to safety responsibilities and initiatives.    All employees will continually monitor and adhere to safety responsibilities and initiatives. Adheres to specific hospital policy and procedures.

I. Minimum Education, Training, and Experience Required

Graduate of an accredited school of NursingCurrent RN license in the state of Kentucky or Kentucky work permit.Must have a minimum of two (2) years’ experience in wound care or a direct patient care role.  Certification as Wound/Ostomy Care Nurse (WOCN) preferred but not required at time of hire but should be obtained within 12 months of joining the Wound Care Department.Certifications based on the unit worked:BLSWound/Ostomy Nurse-(WOCN)-or have withing 12 Months of hire.
